Shooting Around the Corner?

Ever think that it would be cool to be able to shot around the corner? Well imma tell you to wait for a new weapon

Some of you may have seen this weapon on an episode of "Future Weapons" and had the wool pulled over your eyes but I am here to shine the light of truth for you...my ever so wandering sheep.
This weapons system is made in Isreal and I say keep it there!! I wouldnt use this rickity P.O.S. even if it were issued to me.
Heres the skinny on the "Corner Shot":
Its a weapons system that is a HUGE add-on to your glock or other suitable weapons. It is the size of a larger shotgun with a empty section in front for the insertion of the pistol. A camera attached to the front feeds the T.V., which swivels out, so you can watch what the camera see's. The shiny idea to this weapon is your ability to maneuver the section of the system holding the pistol 90 Degrees and in turn "shot around corners". So now that you turned a simple G19 (Glock Model 19) into a "weapon" longer and bulkier then an M16, only able to shot pistol rounds, my question is what else do you carry? I myself have felt the burden of carrying to much gear outside the wire, it sucks...hard! So using this logic, lets walk through this. If I am to carry something this big, I sure as hell want it to shot further the 50M and carrying two weapons plus the gear and ammo that come with them is just to much for the simple pleasure of shoting around a corner. Not to menton people can still see your weapon. Now I know what your thinking "Hey fucko, what about the M16 version they have, its your M16 as a corner shot...problem solved". First, dont call me a fucko...people dont even say that anymore. Second, it solves the pistol problem but creates another!!! I dont want to carry a weapon of the M16 caliber that stands as high as the average 15 year old. Its a monster weapons system. Not to mention it may be accurate for the first month but what do you think will happen to the moveable part after a few clicks and being bumped and banged by the average service member? The wear of the locking mechinisum is bound to give play to the right or left and I know if I got a shot 100M or longer, I want an accurate weapon. The idea is great but the design is flawed. I have seen one of these in real life and Imma tell you that the lever used to move the weapon to the "around the corner" postion is sticky sometimes and loose in others. It does not work as well as it seemed to on the show. My opinion is that I cant wait until something like this comes out thats worth buying. I think they had a great idea but released basically what you could consider a "Beta" version. The next generation corner shots will be well worth the purchase for Special Forces Commands and S.W.A.T. teams everywhere. A word of advise, "Buy the product, not the idea", the idea is for the companies to waste money on not you.

This is a Blog I am looking forward to getting comments on because with something so fresh (the idea) and a product so shitty, I cant wait to see what points I have missed that you all will find!

I think I'll pass. Sounds cool, but really bulky and complicated like you said. I'd rather just toss a frag grenade around the corner if i needed to.
May work for SWAT in a standoff situation, but unless there's a deadly threat, you can't use deadly force. If there is a deadly threat, why not just blow the mother f'er up?

The Corner shot's shooting range is claimed to be accurate and effective to 100 meters in 9x19mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP pistols, and is claimed to be effective to 200 meters with a 5.7x28mm pistol. The device is available in several variations, including the Beretta 92F, a model widely used by US security forces, the Glock, SIG SAUER and CZ, the mechanism can also mount various accessories such as detachable cameras, audio/video transmission kits, visible and IR lasers and tactical flashlights,

I think the idea is stupid, I'd rather have a very small wireless camera attached to the picitanny rail of my SIG, M16, or any gun that has a picitanny rail, then have it wirelessly feed video into a HUD on my helmet, kinda like the the Land Warrior system. You don't even need a HUD, you can put the screen on a wristband or something. The camera itself would be like a laser sight mounted on your pistol.

Another thing that has a similar purpose and I think is a great idea is the 'camera grenade'. I think it was on Future Weapons, but I can't remember. It's a grenade, heavily weighted on the bottom, with 3 or 4 cameras mounted on the side to provide 360 view. You toss it in, switch to the feed on your HUD and you know whats happening right away. I had the idea that you could load it with a small amount of explosive and have it double as a remote-detonation grenade/mine, only you don't need a line-of sight to use it.

Mono Monostatic object

Hi there about the Camera grenade. There is a self righting object called a Mono monostatic "shape, object" Its the same as a weeble but doesn't rely on weights, it relies totally on its shape, it has tolerances of 100th of a mm if it is out by 00.01mm it will not self right. you throw it and it will always return to the same upright position. It all sounds very mondain but i think there are only 2 or three in the world and cost a bomb.Maybe I've totally come off subject just thought it was relevant maybe just maybe if a camera was inserted and the explosive, it could work.but i quess it would be easier to use a bottom heavy(weeble)type device.
The Mono monostatic object is what it is,it has no use or purpose ! its just a amazing piece of mathematics and engineering! Still it could be used exactly for this purpose? Interesting? To some!

Maybe have a look at this Info link below. The video link at the bottom gives a better understanding of what it is and looks like and QI is funny!

http://www.szt.bme.hu/Munkatrs/domokos/cikk_archiv/100/final/100.pdf

It was also shown on the BBC programme QI with Steven fry, which is very funny and worth watching in itself it's shown at 13.44 Min into the programme.

Thanks all.

I watched that movie last night...

Help me remember...was anything intentionally hit with the weapon? I remember many wasted rounds, but no wasted bad guys.

Also, using a weapon's performance in a movie isn't the most convincing evidence. Don't you agree?

well

I went to the airport and they had canceled my connecting flight from Reno to LA,?,but they gave me a free room at the NUGGET Casino( their loss,i don't gamble much, haha). So the wife and i rented another car, went back to Tahoe and rented a 24' 320 HP boat for an hour and tore up the lake! now that was fun,i had tried to do it earlier but the waves were big, they wouldn't rent them. Then we went driving up 89 to the Vikingholm trail and went hiking for a few hours, felt good to move around after all the crowds and such.I know you all feel bad for me having to stay at Reno/Lake Tahoe for an extra day but the mental trauma will eventually heal. All in all a great time, might have to go get a pilots license.

yeah Hamp we hiked right down to Emerald Bay,the Vikingholm house is right on the beach, and we went around the island in Emerald Bay with the speed boat,it was 210ft.deep in Emerald bay but the mouth into it was 7 ft. deep, according to our depth finder onboard.very cool stuff

Pards right about Reno, it had that dirt under the fingernail look last time i was there, (got enough of that myself) and just felt sorta sleazy.. and im thinking my standards for sleazy are pretty low..

Anyway glad you had a good time and got on the lake.. Can't imagine handling 300+ in a 24 ft. What was this puppy, an inboard out board, or just jet drive off of V-8..

There's a pic floating around that has you written all over it as a certified titty guy.. This is a gal who has a pistol grip 12 ga with extended mag across her "Herman's" says something like not your daddy's wing master or some such.. anyway it you, and sure you'll come across it in due time...
