While it didn't make sense to me, I became accustomed to having bank executives and investors slam doors in my face. To them, it didn't make sense to buy a business that sold firearms in California, a state where many of the legislators would like to see firearms banned and seem to be headed that way in a piecemeal fashion.
But Shirl had proven the business could be successful.
It would just be a matter of putting the business plan in the hands of the right people...people who had a background in hunting, fishing, and shooting...people who had faith that the outdoor sports would survive here in California...people like you and me. Through contacts in Safari Club and my past life as a successful business executive, I found those partners and we hammered out a deal.
For me, this is a dream come true. But my tale is really just a continuation of the Turner's Outdoorsman story.
