ever hear of the troops in Iraq sleeping on these to keep warm.
heard about em burning c4 to stay warm though
DU is used in projectiles, not cases. And there are no 20mm rounds used by ground troops. The Bushmaster cannon used on the Bradley or LAV is 25mm, and the Apache's chain gun is 30mm. As for burning C4 to stay warm, this is bullshit too. C4 burns very hot, but very quick. And any situation in which you'd need to burn exposives to stay warm is a situation in which you wouldn't want an open flame to be going. Sure, you can use C4 to boil water for coffee or shaving, but it'd be a lot easier and less hassle to explain if you just went to the KBR chow hall or shower trailers.

info from this guy i was talking to then.I thought he said 20MM but he was supposidly in Iraq,a gunner in a Bradley on a M2(?)gun and he used to sleep on the shells because they stayed warm because of the DU and he also said he believes thats what gave him cancer of the lymph node under his armpit, which he recovered from after chemo/radiation.I didn't know there was a 25MM.
If the DU rounds put out enough heat to keep you warm, they'd not be used by the military. The next point is that if he's in a Bradley, he's got a heater. The sleeping bag system we get issued is rated for -40F, and is more than enough for even the coldest Iraqi winter. Sounds like someone wants to impress others with his hardships. Things are difficult enough in Iraq to gain plenty-o-sympathy from others without making shit up.
i'm gonna tell him hes full of shit next time i go to the VA,i didn't know enough about what he was telling me,but now i do and i'm gonna call him on it,and i'm gonna go double points at cribbage just to take his canteen money!fucker
