.223 vs 6.8spc

Does anyone have any insight on the pros and cons between the .223 and the 6.8spc round? Which is better in an AR platform?

.223 vs. 6.8

All of the ballistics will be in favor of the 6.8, but it will be expensive to shoot

The only advantages that 5.56 has over 6.8 are availability and price. Since it is a military and hunting round... you can find the ammo more readily and it will be cheaper. that said, there are a lot more rifles chambered in 5.56/.223, so if people start stock piling ammo, it could get hard to find.

.223 vs 6.8 SPC

Reaper is right the 6.8 is shooting a bullet that is twice the weight of a .223 and still traveling about 200 fps slower.

Would like to get an upper in 6.8 SPC. I know you are only getting 25 rounds in the magazine where you get 30 rounds with the .223. Seen some guys use the 6.8 for deer hunting.

6.8

i have built two 6.8 AR's for a customer who uses them in Arkansas for
hog hunting (mainly), and deer sometimes. he is absolutely content with
the extra energy that it has. for boar hunting you need that extra penetration. they are both dead accurate, but a little costly to shoot. he handloads most all his rounds so that helps on the cost. he uses Nosler Ballistic Tips (Spitzer)
