30 cal pistol

For years I have seen them at the gun shows but can not any info on them on the net ( lol ) and was wondering if any of you have seen, own, shot,or know about them? I know that RUGER makes one in SA.. Am thinking ( could be wrong ) that it takes the carbine round? Might be a good shoot back up in woods gun? .......................TY

I had one tall guy..

I had a Universal 30 carbine back in the mid eighties.. the idea of having a matching caliber side arm sounded great.. (did like that little M1 carbine).. I justified the purchase by telling my self i would get into silhouette shooting.. (the little steel ram stuff).. anyway.. and i posted this not long ago..

The black hawk was the LOUDEST handgun i've ever fired in my 50 plus years of loving this sport.. remember that the 30 carbine round is designed to be shot out of a 16 inch bbl.. the 71/2 Ruger burnt like half the powder..

The rest gets burnt outside the gun.. big old belch of flame, noise like your next to a 105 Howie..

Actually the big issue is the round is rimless, and therefore has to chamber inside the cylinder, so if the case isn't perfect it has a tendency to hang up when the round makes contact with the frame..

If your using all new rounds it works fine.. but think carefully before this one tall one..

TG 1911 .30 Cal

Yes it does take the M1.30 cal round. 9 mm with a crap load of powder behind it. They designed it for an Officers side arm for those carrying the M1 Carbine so they would carry only one type of ammo.

I shot one a few years back and it was ok, but it hit kinda hard. Wasn't thought out as well as the Coonan .357 which is machined from one block of hammered steel. The Coonan has some heft to it, the 1911 .30 doesn't have enough in my opinion. Though others liked it, Billy ended up selling it because he wanted to pick up a Navy Luger.

No sir, he fell into that bullet... Never argue with a stupid person. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!

Buntline Special, you might have a good piece, albeit not very concealable..

Magnum Research--5 shot revolver with 10 inch barrel. You could hang it inside your pant leg, but you would need a strong set of suspenders!!

Too old to fight, Too old to run, guess that's why I carry a gun! "would someone show this asshole the way out of town".[Rabbi Avram Belinski-aka "The Frisco Kid"]

AMT

AMT also made an AutoMag that fired the .30C round.

Neat idea, but I haven't seen a .30C handgun I'd trust with my life. That, plus the aforementioned problem with powder use, makes it less than ideal for me.

The new Speer Gold Dot JSP is s'posed to be great if you decide .30C is a good pick for you. Same for the CorBon DPX, these 2 loads help bring the .30C's terminal performance into the modern day.
