i will get the phone number to the shop that i know of who rebores these guns to 444 marlin.google 444marlin conversion and see what you can dig up as well!

Wouldn't it be wise to magnaflux, xray or zyglo a 50 year old bbl before boring out and putting this powerful a shell into it & firing. Well I guess a remote control trigger of some sorts might help.

you are correct!and the shop that does the rebore does this before and after the rebore to ensure safety.

Tks for the help. I did the 303Enfield google and was surprised. Will
continue to look. BTW, I made a lucky assorted .444Marlin ammo purchase.
An old gentleman 20 yrs my elder was referred to me as he had run over his .444Marlin lever-action in Dec 08. He sez he broke the barrel then rendered the gun "unconsious at the scene" and would be glad to sell me his ammo.
As soon as I can get to the range (on bedrest for 2 months) I will update you. The cost of that ammo now is close to prohibitive. CORBON $62.++,
I don't think so. Time for a set of dies.
