.357 Magnum rifle

Here's a little something to ponder.
150gr soft point from a revolver @ 1350fps= about 1850fps from my lever action rifle.
Almost but not quite 30-30 muzzle velocity and energy.
I also get 12+rounds from the tube magazine.
Yep, it's a nasty little sumbeech.

brand

Depending on brand, conditions and barrel length, there are ways to get a .357/125gr up over 2000fps in a rifle. I think Buffalo Bore is one of the hot-stuff small manufacturers. As long as you are using a bonded or non-expanding bullet (standard JHPs can bust up unpredictably), the added velocity gives you flatter trajectory and more power at the outside range of the cartridge.

.357/.44/.45LC rifles are the cat's ass in my opinion, plenty for the majority of planned game shots (round here, whitetails @ 50yds from the blind is pretty standard), and power to spare for most 2-legged threats.

A Ruger .44 bolt action is the current fav in my gunlocker....light as a .22 but within 100yds enough for anything I'd encounter.

Vaguero hold on to it

357 rifles are real popular with
Cowboy Action Shooters.
I'd trade my 30-30 for one

Smokey and the bandit,

HELL YEAH! I loved the original but the following two were kind of lack luster in my opinion.

Maybe you know, can you still get the sabots (plastic caliber reducer)?
I been meaning to load some wicked shit for my .243 with .223 bullets.
Hope you enjoy the Hill Country of Texas!

i dont think the sabot stuff is available much anymore with all the modern bullets available.try hornady or speer for light bullets in weights similar to 223 stuff.

I got a box full of .243 bullets in 60gr HP, Sierra Match King.
Them will damn near vaporise raw air travelling through it.
Almost .220 Swift velocity with the right powder.

Vaq, I have to agree with GP, leave the sabots to the shotgun stuff.
