I like the M203, but i don't think you're gonna get around the recoil... and capacity will be low, and price will be high.lol
I'm guessing you were refering to a .40 cal handgun. In that case, go with the good name brands. Glock,Sig,XD,S&W,Ruger,HK etc... Check out the XDM too, it will be reliable and holds 16+1
sytasyn_syn
Springfield XD .40
Smith&Wesson M&P .40
Glock 34
Reaper308
the g34 is a competition 9mm (g35 is a competition .40, maybe thats what you meant)...
as for a glock .40, i would go with a g22 or g23 (what ever fits your hands the best)
762Marine
id go wih a mark 19. lol
Reaper308
that would def help out with the capacity, but not price. lol
sytasyn_syn
I have looked for just "practice rounds" and they were like 30-50 bucks a pop!(for the 203)
Reaper308
and thats pretty cheap too
Andrew530
do you think a .40 cal is to much for a first time shooter
Reaper308
depends on the gun. if its heavier with atleast a 4" barrel (won't have as much recoil) its not as bad. If you are concerned about the recoil, you will anticipate it and you will develop bad habits. Usually I tell most people to start with a 9mm (if they want an auto) because there not as much recoil, which means better technique and recovery time, plus with the right ammo, 9mm is still very deadly.... but if you are a decent sized guy, you should be able to handle a .40
LLE
in my opinion, is a matter of the ergonomics and the feel. Example: My wife shoots a Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro 9mm. The grip is reasonably small, the safety correctly placed for HER, and the slide is easy to jack. She shoots this weapon very well and confidently. When I got my XD40, she asked to shoot it[she is not bothered by recoil or report.]
She actually shot the 40 better than the 9. I asked her why, and she said it feels better in my hands, and I don't have a safety switch to be concerned about.

Depends...You got "Pelotas" or are you afraid of the gun. If you are(some people are that have never shot a gun before) Then rent a .22 wheel gun so you can get used to what happens when you fire a pistol.
Funny story...We had a Recruit back when I was in boot camp who was afraid of guns!!! A "man" wanted to be a MARINE but was afraid of guns? Now, He had no problem lugging the unloaded rifle everywhere until we got to the range. When it was time to lock and load the Drill Instructor yelled out "Make a Condition 1 Weapon" This kid grabbed his magazine and was trembling so bad he couldn't get the dam thing in the rifle. Well I am sure you can imagine the shit storm he brought down on himself from the Drill Instructors! It was glorious to watch. He finally gets it loaded and racks the charging handle, dripping with sweat and shaking like a coke fiend! We get the call to begin BZO'ing with our first of three WELL AIMED SHOTS. Everyone lets loosing, enjoying the feeling of wearing a uniform that strikes fear in the enemy's eyes and wets your sisters crotch while sending rounds down range with a killing mentality, which of course makes one hell of a racket. 50 people all delivering hell to the paper made people 36Yds away. HE FREAKS when he hears this...pulls the trigger while dropping the weapon {FULLY LOADED} on the deck. Someone yells "Cease fire" and everyone repeats the call as ordered. This kid gets airborne thanks to the Range Safety Officer. I mean, this kid earned his fly wings that day. I have never seen such a ruthless open palm strike to someones chest since a Bruce Lee movie. It was one of the most Motivating things I have ever seen in my life!!!
Sorry for going so off topic

reysanz630
what a bout the beretta 96inox is good gun. the XD40 is the next on my list but i need info for that gun any of you has one. the HK usp .40 any one try that one 2.
Reaper308
i have fired all of the above. the XD and HK are good weapons... the Beretta, not so much
Hunter59
Which is ur favorite out of the H&K and the XD?
Reaper308
i like sig the best, then HK, then XD.... but sig and HK cost about $300 more. there is nothing wrong with XD, they are great reliable accurate guns. I compare them to lighers. My 1911 and sigs are my zippos, and my glocks (or XD if I owned one) are my bics.
Hunter59
What r the names of the Models that Sig offers in .45 or .40? What brand is ur 1911?
reysanz630
thank i almost make a mistake with the beretta. xd and hk it is.
LLE
a Beretta, look at the PX4
sytasyn_syn
Anyone who has experience with the 90 series knows they suck!
LLE
sure ain't no 90 series!!
sytasyn_syn
That comment was to Reysnaz630's comment
LLE
sorry Syn. My humbleness cup runeth over.
sytasyn_syn
If it's beer you better catch it and not waste any!!
reysanz630
have you try one px4 before.......
LLE
will in my opinion be a very good seller for Beretta. It is a direct competitor for the Springy XD and XDm, and the S&W M&P. It has very good ergonomics, and about 4 different configurations, depending upon the buyer's needs.
It definitely is NOT your father's 90 series.
In this vicinity, the LEO price is $459.00, and if you cry and whine a little, a dealer with a decent stock may sell it to you for that price, NIB.
DEMO
Rent a bunch of guns before you buy. see what you like. Think of what your needs are. If you need concealment try a Kahr PM, Walther PPS. If you want a cool range gun look to kimber, glock springfield or Ruger.
All depends on your needs. You can get almost anything in 40.....would not worrie about the recoil or cost...Handguns are not a cheap hobby or necessity.
If you want to shoot a lot, buy a .22 LR first. Get fundamentals down, then buy a good self defense weapon..
I would recommend a Walther p22. It is a 22lr with all the bells and whistles of a real handgun. Get used to safeties and charging the gun.
Another option is getting a handgun with a 22 conversion. Glock and kimber have good packages.
Just buy a quality firearm. No Cobra's or Hi-points.
Remember though, handguns are addictive. But one and before you know it, you have a safe full of firearms you just had to have. I buy handguns like my wife buys shoes....
Hunter59
What Calibers does the PX4 come in, I might have 2 check it out?
LLE
9mm, 40S&W, and 45ACP. A sub compact is just coming out, and they are in great demand. The prices of the SCs are higher than the 4 inchers.
reysanz630
the px4 carbine and the pistol used the same mag...i know the mag for the carbine is 20 load if they share the same mag i think to try one before i buy one
LLE
the CX4 carbine. I have one of those in 40S&W, and it shoots wonderfully well; and yes you can get interchangable magazines.
Hunter59
I will check that out for sure then! I am just a little concerned though because of all the bad things I have heard about Beretta pistols, but then again, this is a new series. Does it have an external safety?
LLE
and some do not. Same for de-cockers.
Reaper308
have you ever fired, or do you own a PX4? If so, what caliber?
LLE
handled several different PX4's, but never fired one. I do not own one, but I have an order in for the first Sub Compact 40 that my dealer receives. The opinions of several experienced LEOs and the dealer folks who I know and trust are that the PX4 is very similar to the XD and the S&W M&P, and so far, it feels that way. There are two reasons I wish to buy one:
First: My wife is coveting my XD40SC
Second: That gives me the "excuse" to get the PX4, which also interchanges magazines with my CX4/40 carbine. ;>))
I will be able to fire a PX4 before the final purchase.
Sak
I disagree with the harsh review of this weapon. I am a large person with a catchers mitt size hand. I lugged around a 1911 colt 45 for years. By comparison the Beretta exceeds in every category. In my hands it feels the right size and weight. It does not shoot curve balls and has never stove piped. The Glock feels like a kids toy to me. I cant afford a Kimber or Sig. If you want to shoot an affordable good pistol this is not a bad choice.
sytasyn_syn
I understand what your saying...but I am having a real hard time taking you serious...Mr.SAK Hahahaha. God I am so immature for that one!
Ebear
im, just gonna throw the Couger out there. Its good sized and in my opinion a slightly better but cheaper Beretta.
