7-11 robery
A 7-11 not too far from my house was robbed this morning, the crook used a rock to intimidate the clerk into telling him how to open the till. This makes me feel very unsafe I am calling for a ban on rocks, I will not rest until the legislature puts laws into effect making the ownership of rocks illegal and getting the police to get all the rocks off our streets. We will start by requiring anyone who wants to carry a rock in their pocket to get a special permit. Next we will require anyone who owns a rock to register it with the government. After that it's a simple task of going down the list of registered rock owners and sending the police to their houses to confiscate their rocks. I will soon be organizing an anti-rock ralley outside the Utah capitol building everyone please come, we will also be handing around an anti-rock petition to be signed. I appreciate all your support in this matter, Nothing is as risky as certain failure. |

If you set a gun down and never touch it it can never hurt anyone. But I have seen rocks jump down off of hills and cliffs and attack people and vehicles so rocks must be evil all on there own.

he's mostly just into havin a good time, i think shotguns are his fav. but he does have a nice high point 9mm and access to other guns including a .357 mag which in my new fav gun at the moment.

I have a decent shottie, but it tends to kick my ass (read sore shoulder, black and blue sore), so I religate it to home defence duty (it is loaded and at hand as my other weapons are not), kid's and all.

I think the bird shot would still be pretty lethal comming out of a fully choked shotgun, we were essentially putting 1 big hole in our targets shooting #9 shot at roughly 10 yards.

sheesh you know your into geezer hood when you do the "that reminds me" thing.. Wasting time to see if you guys come up with a target for me before i go..
Shotguns were a staple in the prison system when i started, matter of fact we had more range time with shotguns and rifles (mini-14) than pistol till we transitioned to Glocks and did the whole LE certification thing.. If the use of force continuem had to go past oc then we'd put the shotguns on the yard loaded with #9 bird shot, and the policy was "skip shooting".. yep.. you shot about 4 to 6 ft in front of the Inmate and it worked pretty well.. the shot slowing down guaranteed less than lethal force, and it also had the advantage of the inmate seeing the shoot going off, and it only took about one or two rounds to get control of the sittuation again..
SO of course the lawyers (hate that word) got involved and we had law suits because some inmate had a scar on his face..(fact).. At that point the policy was changed to shoot at the ankles.. Which is sorta funny when you think about it as it guaranteed more Inmate injuries..

if it doesn't penetrate 12" of ballistic gelatin, it ain't leathal, something to consider when choosing between buck and bird.

but someone posted a video or a link that showed the differences in various shot types and it showed very well that birdshot is not a good load, even at close range, for reliable incapacitation. Stick with buckshot or slugs, although #4 turkey loads would be pretty good at close range too.

If #9 shot isnt that bad then I'll take some volunteers to help me test it on them.

But do you really think it has a reliable abillity to incapacitate someone physically? There is a difference between pain compliance and incapacitation. Blasting someone with a load of #9 shot is not much different than hitting them with rock salt. You are using pain to get them to stop. In most cases, a burglar, robber, mugger, whatever, will not be dedicated enough to stay there if you pepper their hide. But do you really want to take that chance in order to save on a little bit of shove against the shoulder?

It likes that load, I get a good pattern
with Improved Cylinder.
I know it would take one super tough

they have a huge variety of different loads available. There are reduced recoil buckshot and slug loads that don't push much more than field loads in my Mossberg 590, yet have much better terminal ballistics than field loads.

When on a man hunt hunting 3 guys excaped from lima ohio and they had killed 3 people We all where told to bring our 12 g shotguns. They handed out double 0 buck we where told the shotgun being raked ,has a very disstinctive sound with makes most people freeze ,and the 00 buck has 9 to 11 shot in them. And each come out with about the same power as a 38 out to about 60 yards if i remember right . And thats why they used that round
