And he is exactly right. There have been instances where guys who made their own restaurant grease/diesel blabbed about it too loudly, and state highway folks stuck them with an added-on road tax, claiming they were using the public thoroughfares for nothing. Well, they were, other than licenses, insurance, and any other inescapable shit.
If you do that,DON"T TALK ABOUT IT...
If they were to allow cars to start getting mondo gas mileage, everybody else stuck with older vehicles, and heavy vehicles, would pitch a major bitch,'specially if the tripled the road/fuel tax to make up for the loss.Another thing they don't mention is;much of that fuel/road tax is not used for the roads, but to make pensions solvant.
I remember back in the 80's,a friend had a diesel Jetta that got like 45?-50? mpg.
Now,you look at the dealer lots, and they have BIG signs on the demo models.."36 MPG!!"
Big fuggin' whoop...

$3.85 a gallon?

LOL, diesel hasn't been one cent under $4 a copy since I moved to Florida in 2006. Might need to move to Arizona after all....

with an auxiliary fuel tank and fuel filter water separator.
It was only a few miles to TJ Mexico, 12 cents per gallon. I drove from San Diego to Auburn California and half way back to San Diego before I had to buy fuel.

In the 1970's Honda came out with the CVCC engine, did it get close to 50MPG also?

Price

Diesel does cost less to produce, but there are so many cheaper products added to gasoline that it brings the price down, It is not 100% gasoline!!

Honda

Yes, daisycutter, I had one. '87 (I believe) Honda CRX. Only the HF model got 50 and that's what I had. Wish I still had it, they are worth big bucks today in very good condition.

It's too late for me, save yourself.
