What kinda "damage" can a 7mm rifle do? I wouldn't plan on using for hunting or anything like that. It would be more of just range gun for me. How far can they shoot and still deliver a strong hit on what I'd be shooting at?

in fact there are several very powerful 7mm rounds. the 7mm x 55mm Swede comes to mind as well at the 7mm x 66mm Remington Ultra Magnum round. these are often used as long range sniper rounds and are extremely deadly. for example the IWI Galil Sniper rifle from Israel is chambered in the 7mm Swede round as well as several other calibers. it can range from 1000 meter to as far as 2000 meter with deadly force accuracy. do not make the mistake of underestimating the power of a 7mm.

The 7mm Remington magnum is a belted magnum able to take down any animal in North America. It's also pretty damned expensive to shoot for a plinker.

I'm kinda partial to the 7MM. It has excellent ballistic characteristics.
Two of the 7MMs I like are the .280 Rem and the 7MM08. You need to look at the major ammo manufacturers ballistic tables. They are extremely informative.
