Ah, it's a good night
Beer and sushi. I just really wish something so good didn't have to be so expensive. I could literally eat sushi and Taco Bell every meal, every day, for the rest of my life and never tire of it. And to think, the only places I've ever had sushi were Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arizona. I wonder what actual Jap or Okinawan sushi would be like. Probably taste like angels shitting on my tongue. And every time I pop one of those little bits of heaven into my mouth, I think about the fact that I came down on orders to go to Camp Zama, Japan, and signed a declination statement so I could stay in Kansas and keep training soldiers. DAMN MY DEDICATION!! I could have been eating real japanese sushi, fucking real japanese girls, and maybe even could have been a contestant on Takeshi's Castle and provided a good highlight clip for the show MXC. Ah well, I got something better. Two more deployments. "I have always been a soldier. I have known no other life. The calling of arms, I have followed from boyhood. I have never sought another." From The Virtues of War, by Steven Pressfield.

Hey runs, you should have gone to Camp Zama, I was stationed not to far from there. It was so close I used to ride my bicycle over there. It's a beautiful area.

Your not are you.. sheessh. I am struck with dread that our "warrior sergeant" is a sushi eater.

What's not to love? Protein of the fish, complex carbohydrates of the rice, the nose burning sensation of the wasabi sauce, it's amazing. I'm really looking forward to going fishing again so I can make my own with bass. I draw the line at eating raw catfish, though. Just doesn't seem like a good idea. Maybe if I go back to Kansas, I'll try Walleye sushi. And I just know there is some geek getting ready to go on Wikipedia to cut and paste something, so before you do, I know 'sushi' is the term for the rice and not the fish, but I'm American, so I'll use it however I goddamn well please, thank you. Huh?
