What does a lower for an ak generally run? What round do you shoot from them?

before prices went bat shit you could buy a parts kit and a receiver flat for around 150 bucks then build the receiver and assemble the weapon.it shoots 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 depending on what kit you start with

AK all the way!i can build AK's for 300 bucks right now that are ready for combat when completed.300 bucks for an AR 15 will not a functional weapon make!so for me it is simply mathematics

How complicated of a task is it to build an AK? I'm no gunsmith, but I know enough to get something done if I have a good set of directions and plenty of time to muddle through it! And it would be for me only, no transfers or sales.

it can be done in a day with the right parts but good luck finding a parts kit below 200 bucks right now!(parts kit:need a receiver and a barrel)everything else is in the kit, trigger group, sites, gas tap, furniture, bolt, etc.

right now with "the obama scare"good luck finding a kit.i have a couple myself(sorry, not for sale)another way is to look into prebuilt AK's thru SOG or Jerry's Sporting goods.but all of this gun stuff is hard to find right now and prices are up so shop carefully.check out www.akparts.com and www.akbuilder.com for more info.a year ago it was real cheap to build a kit where prebuilt AK's sold for 450.if you had the ability it made sense to build your own.oh yeah, its not a lower it is just a receiver

If you buy a receiver you have to get a jig to bend it into shape...is this right? Can you buy them already bend ready for assembly?

yes, you can buy a prebent receiver just remember that the receiver will be registered to you because it is a serial numbered part whereas if you bend your own it dont have numbers and aint registered, but you cant sell it to someone either and even if you made your receiver you still have to be 922 compliant!

Nodakspud has the best receivers for aks. I have built many aks with there receivers no bending jig needed. There already 100% with rail installed.

Thanks, I am looking into them. I wanna build something, and since ar parts are extinct now, I think I will build an ak, plus the cost is better. I am checking to see if I can use an ak in the tourneys I shoot.
Whats the odds of getting a receiver right now without paying a fortune?
