I'm hoping to gain some insight from some members here cause I'm at a mental stand off. I couple weeks ago I went into the local dealer and saw WASR-10 retailing at $800.00. This is the same Romainian model that six months ago was selling for $349.00 at JG Sales. There has been much speculations over bans, and giving Obamas voting record I think the speculations have some credibility. However, if this massive increase in price is due to supply and demand, and not panic prior to investigation, shouldn't the prices be falling once the demand has been met? Or could this just be a great way to charge $800 for $349 rifle? I would really appreciate any thoughts you guys have.

Its getting wild out here. There are waiting lists for rifles. The gun center has got the best deals out here and in your scenario its about 650 b ucks. I wait the bust when Obama falls on his ass. Could you imagine if he really honors the second amendment? Ends the war, cheap surplus .223 and 7.62.

if you're gonna droop $800 on an AK.... check out Lancaster. MUCH better than the WASR's.

Thanks for that heads up. Nice to know I can get an $800.00 rifle for about $800.00. Real novel economic concept there. I appreciate all of your input guys, thanks.

if you decide to check them out, call them directly. they usually build for orders, so most people have to wait 30 days or so, but they happened to have a couple extras from a large order laying around when I got a hold of them. they're out on the westside by goodyear. lifetime warranties

Why can gunshops sell New AK's with pistol grips, then warnus about the 922 compliance issue with Saigas. Whats the difference, have the rules changed. Lancaster AK's look sweet- they US made?

most AK's for sale (post ban) are non military weapons, meaning that they were either catigorized as a sporting rifle (like the WASR) or are military parts kits with compliant parts (like lancaster, arsenal etc). I'm no expert on this subject, but since the saigas are being converted from the origional sporting rifle into an assault type rifle, they have to have compliant parts as well.

Here is a great discussion on 922 compliance
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=221454

The lancaster AK's are Romanian MILITARY part kits (not WASR kits)with U.S made compliant parts. Lancaster makes their own recievers and some other small parts, along with refinishing the russian red wood furnature. they use tapco triggers. I'm not just drinking my own kool aid, but I just bought a Lancaster 3060 and its one of the highest quality AKs I've shot. 1"-2" groups at 100 yds vs 3"-4" with most other AKs. I would recommend one to anyone, especially when WASR's are going for $800 and you can get a lancaster for the same price, but buy directly from them because some of their distributers jack the prices up

dealers can sell ak's with pistol grips because the guns they are selling are guns that are put together here in the US so they have the required number of compliance parts(sec.922 US Code)reaper is right about the WASR,for that kind of cash you can find better made guns(like from Lancaster or SOG)i took up the task of looking up the 922 compliance issue and after a few days research and 800 pages and a shit load of ink i printed it out.the feds make it real difficult to find all the parts of the US Code that pertain to Section 922.

we are using .062 sheetmetal, but we also have to make our own rivets(on a lathe)because of the thicker receivers we are bending up ourselves.my buddy built all of the jigs and tooling himself with some welding donated by me.
