Ammunition today is at a century high for quality and assortment.
I see a lot of folks go with Federal Hydra-Shok or HP as did I
until a couple of years ago. I have subsequently switched to Double Tap or Buffalo Bore for 40S&W, .357SIG and 10MM (hunting also). If all I had was Federal (and I have plenty) I would still feel confident as I would with some other brands. I'm sure this should bring about some discussion. What is your preference.

My take on it

I bought a couple boxes each of Hornady XTP, Federal Hydrashok, Remington Golden Saber, Extreme Shock AFR, Corbon JHP, and Speer GDHP. All three of my Glocks prefer the Speer GDHP 124 gr +P, so that's what I load them with. Considering the staggering amount of money you may spend on legal fees as a result of a defensive shooting where everything goes right, the investment to figure out which load is most accurate in my defense guns is worth avoiding a defensive shoot where a bystander is hit. It may still happen, but my accuracy testing adds a mechanical margin of error to (hopefully) offset any human error I may exhibit.
