Ammo Question

Does anyone know the difference between Brown Bear, Silver Bear, and Golden Bear ammo? Is it any good?

bear ammo

brown bear has a lacquer coating on the steel case. silver bear has a zinc coating on the steel case. golden bear has a brass coating on a steel case.

brown bear functions like any other russian ammo. its just a little cleaner than wolf. I like silver and golden bear better. both function more similar to brass casings (if you have a picky rifle). if its for your AK or and other eastern bloc rifle with an extractor on steriods, brown bear will be just fine. I just don't like shooting lacquer cases through my AR. All of these are manufactured by barnaul in russia. barnaul also makes another line of ammo with their name on it which is decent. I prefer barnaul and the bear line over any other russian ammo

Stupid Question

What is the difference between a .308win and .308remington? Is there one? The reason I ask is because in the reloading book that I was reading they talk about them as if though they were different.

.308 question

ok,you have two different cartridges mixed up here.they both use a .308 bullet but the cases are different.the .308 winchester is our common one and the other one you are looking at is the .30 remington

.308 question

make DAMN!!!sure what cartridge your guns shoots either by looking at what is stamped on the gun(it should say .308 win.)or by looking at brass that you know for proof positive was fired in it.a .30 remington is a longer case and should not be able to chamber in a 308 winchester chamber but for safety sake check!

.308 win.

To help with the confusion factor, your .308 rifle is manufactured by Remington. The cartridge that it fires was created by Winchester, like the .270 round. So it doesn't matter the manufacturer of the rifle, what matters is what round it's chambered for. I hope this helps to clarify.

you are right about the rounds, but check the case again, the bi-metal should have a lacquer coating

What do you mean?

Are you asking about different bullet weights, or different kinds of .40 rounds entirely, or what?
