TO Every action, there is an Equal and Opposite Reaction..Sir Isaac Newton >>>>.. REMEMBER THE RULE OF GUNFIGHTING..HAVE A GUN..LT COL. JEFF COOPER, MARINE
I believe they both have their attributes. I've never seen a custom shop for Glock though. When it comes to type of actions, which one wears out 1st. I think the 1911 action can't compare with the Glock for durability (pulled that outa my---). The XD(M) models ?
(You have to look behind all of that outer space stuff)
Great quote there from General Jackson. The funny think is he was shot and killed by one his own men, I think shortly after that in a case of accidently friendly fire.
and as to the un-timely death of general jackson, history writes that compications due to phenumonia was the cause. you are correct as far as the friendly firing by a sentry. this caused the general to lose a arm but he was taken off the battlefield alive and lived another month or so....pleasure to meet you as well..

they are both good. I'm assuming you're talking about the XD or XDM when you say Springfield... even though they not actually made by Springfield.
It comes down to personal preference. I've owned many glocks, all worked perfectly. I've shot many XD's, they are great too. If I were looking to get another one, I would look at an XDM (especially now that conversions are becoming easier to find)... but you can NEVER go wrong with a trusty glock either.

ivanank, in my opinion they are both very comparable. I don't have an XDM..yet. I do have an XD 45 and several Glocks. Both have been ball bat reliable and my XD has a slight edge in accuracy. That could be just because of the way it's grips are made making it a little more better fitting in my hand. If you got either one, I don't think you would find yourself in remorse down the road. I know I don't regret any of my glocks or my XD. The best thing I could say is go hold them both, dry fire both of them, if your gun store lets you do such a thing. What ever feels better and more comfortable in your hand is the one you should pick. Neither one of them will let you down function wise.
I don't like Glocks! And before I'm kicked off the forum, let me explain. I don't like the way they fit my hand. Doesn't feel right. My XD's ( I own 2) on the other hand slide right in. I won't bad mouth glock, they are good pistols, just not for me.
I've always had one strong belief about pistols. If you pick it up and it doesn't instantly feel like part of your hand, put it down, walk away, and never look back.
RONIN, being the rookie that i am your pov is positive to say the least. thanks pal.

That's the great thing about forums like this. Nobody has all the answers, but there is much knowledge and insite to be had for a person with an open mind. Ohhh, and a lot of B.S. to filter through also! I learn alot on here and appriciate those willing to listen to what I say.
love the quote...guess the subtext on that would be kill'em with kindness

Holy shit, I've been in for 13 years and have never seen one in use by the military. We issued G19s to Iraqi Police and army, and we have Sigs, Berettas, 1911s, HKs, but I've never seen or heard of any unit that uses G17s.
If you can't win their hearts and minds, then expose their hearts and minds to open oxygen. WHEN IN DOUBT, THIRTY OUT!!

the deadliest army in this world uses glock pistols, theres a reason for that bud.
clintlebo
Are you talking about the drug trade as the deadliest army?
clint
raffycanlas
no sir, im not talking about those cowards, i meant the us military
clintlebo
pardon my ignorance, but I thought the US Military used the M9 side arm made by Beretta.
When did the replacement start?
clint

it depends on the branch... but it will usually br the M9, G17/19, or MK23 for the lucky ones

buy American. Keep Americans working.

springfield's XD is made in Croatia. Its called the HS2000...look it up. springfield just buys them, puts their name on them, and re-sales them.

I weigh in by saying that I don't like Glocks, but I love Springfields XD series.
