I don't want to try to get too technical just yet. Do you have an ohm meter? Or multi meter?

Just start by looking for the "board" with the burned or smoked parts on it.
Then google the board part #. Probly get out plenty cheap by plugging in a new one.

I am a redneck and i fix electronics and have my own company doing Low voltage. I have tried to look the board up and can not find it. i do have a multi meter.looks like a resistor but only has two bands and in red in color and about half the length of the resistors. when i read across the two leads i get a reading of 0.00 ohms.

Resistor

at 0 ohms is a bad resistor. I know it sounds goofy, but, melt that sucker off and take it to Radio Shack. They should ID the bands and sell you a new resistor at proper ohms. Solder it on and "presto", maybe. Could be a short somewhere that burned out the resistor.
Do you have any schematics of the board? Owners manual?

Let us know how it comes out. Yeah, circuits just enthrall me!
I love my job! Also, If you can determine the output voltage and wattage of the bad power supply, you might pick up a "universal power supply", set to correct voltage, and just affix the new leads to the load side.
Good Luck!

Virginia Scout try Arrow Electronics. They have several references for that part, but they do not show a price.
