One of the guys at our gun club is starting up a air gun group because the guns are supposedly a lot more powerful than they used to be.

He said that one of the new airguns that owns will take down a deer.

Any comments?

But they are getting some with great speed on them. I have seen one air gun that they say is shooting a .22 cal pellet at 1450 fps.

They will not reliably take down big game, as the .22 cal pellets have weights ranging from 15 to about 22 gr. So a 22 gr projectile moving at 1400 fps is not very powerful at all.

.45 cal air gun?

Why not use a firearm? Whatever it takes to float your boat and tickle your pickle I guess.

What are the .45 cal bbs made of plastic?
Plastic would take a deer out?
