AR-10 .308 rifle

Anyone out there recommend an AR-10 rifle, been looking at one at City Arms in Pacifica, CA
W/O scope is $1900 looks real nice, weight is good, looking for one maybe not as expensive.

Thanks.

seems high

The Rock River LAR (26", 20" out soon I think) can be had for less. $1900 seems high for any entry-level .308 AR-clone.

I've seen Knights and Larues for a little less than that aftermarket.

Have you tried Armalite? They have them for 1500-1800.

I m with TxLG

Kinda pricey for an off brand...

Though, in CA. you have to deal with the bullet button to remove the mag which can only be unattached for cleaning, correct?

the folowing is california law on the issue of detachable magazine

Article 2. Definitions of Terms Used to Identify Assault Weapons
978.20 Definitions
The following definitions apply to terms used in the identification of assault weapons pursuant
to Penal Code section 12276.1:
(a) “detachable magazine” means any ammunition feeding device that can be
removed readily from the firearm with neither disassembly of the firearm action
nor use of a tool being required. A bullet or ammunition cartridge is
considered a tool. Ammunition feeding device includes any belted or linked
ammunition, but does not include clips, en bloc clips, or stripper clips that load
cartridges into the magazine.

as stated by california law it is not illegal to remove and reinstal an "amunition feeding device" that requires a tool, however if i knew a leo is present i would hesitate to use the bullet buton in front of him because california likes to push the boundrys of the law,tie you and your money up in the legal system, and destroy guns before a guilty verdict or plea.based on the way the law is writen im confident you could easily win the case,if charged, but id rather not have to.isd mentioned only removing the mag for cleaning, that would apply to the prince 50 setscrew type maglock, because if the setscrew is removed you now have a centerfire rifle that can accept a detachable magazine as defined by the above ca law.

Now we're talking

I would look at LaRue (I've heard nothing but good things about the OSR/OBR) and DPMS for D.I depending on your budget (not saying there's anything wrong with Armalite). There's always the SR-25, but I think KAC is way overpriced compared to what else is available for less $$. I would suggest passing on the Bush/Rem R-25. I don't have any personal experience, but know a few people who have experienced problems. For Piston look at LWRC or POF. I shot a REPR not too long ago and it was pretty sweet, but pricey. I'm still leaning towards a LMT MWS if I can ever save up enough money. Those will be a little more expensive.

My opinion, Under $1900- check out DPMS. Armalite's will work too but I would have to get a killer deal to get one. You might find a used rifle also.

eh comrade?
Do they actually let people have air rifles!!! Dear goodness me! Someone could shoot their eye out! They should ban those too. And Airsoft guns. As a matter of fact, everything harder than foam should be banned and replaced with approved Nerf replacement material. Then, nothing bad will happen ever again. </sarcasm>
