AR build

I'm interested as well. I might be putting another rifle together very shortly after I finish playing with my Bushmaster. I like La Rue, Troy Industries, LWRC and Daniel Defense, LMT, Noveske etc... BCM looks good as well (thanks lucky). I have heard nothing but good things about all of them. Magpul or VLTOR for stocks. For cheaper flip up battle sights (but still great quality) I like Magpul's. P mags for magazines.

How about smaller things like triggers, bolts etc...? I saw VLTOR and BCM charging handles that looked nice, but if you use names brands like that for every part, thing will add up quick.

check out www.bravocompanyusa.com (again, thanks LBC). They are a good start.

Matech BUIS

Matech is the brand of Back Up Iron Sight (BUIS) that is issued in the army right now. It's a no-frills flip up sight that is windage adjustable and has graduated range settings out to 600 meters.

Will be watching this

Are you going to give a price list and what your total cost to build was, Lucky? I've been toying around with the idea of a build. I've heard it's cheaper than buying a complete riflle, but didn't know how that could be true. I can get a Bushmaster at Academy for 699.99.......can you build cheaper than that?

So for 520.00 plus shipping you can build an a3 or m4 take your pick. There are tons of kits as well as manufactors that make good to excellent AR's. It all bepends on how much money you want to spend.

Me and my best friend are going to go in together building one! To keep cost low we will build somthing like Nitris discribed. For around $300 each we will build one over the coming year, then do the same thing next year. That way we both get a rifle and spread the cost out over two years!

Cool, Thanks Nitris

Not wanting to get to carried away, thats why I was looking a t the Bushmaster with the carry handle. Figured I would save money not buying optics! I have still yet to shoot one for fear of catching the AR bug! There is just an endless amount of mods to do to them!

yep shak

I am going to check out Nitris site too,but i am going to put together a list of what i get, right now it's just research, and finding out what works well,i am working with a gun store that builds ARs as well, but i'm gonna run it by everbody just for information purposes, kind of a daily account of how it's going.I don't know if that sounds like crap or not, never tried this before, what the hell it can get deleted if it sucks right.

I have the sights, Post office was closed today, will mail them Monday. Greasy, your package will be open, I guess the gun store guy used it to display for the rest, but it's unused and complete. Is that still okay?

Ordering Parts online

I was thinking of getting a stripped lower and building the gun over the next year. When I went to get a lower it said you must have an FFL on file to ship. Why would you need a FFL to buy a stripped lower? If you have to have one to order the parts online then how is it cheaper to build then buy, am I missing somthing?

So the lower you posted for $55 would end up more like $95? What about the Complete upper Kits, do need one to order that?

It was 75 for me, but

don't most FFL's charge you about 20 to do a transfer? I'am just wondering if I should look for a lower that I can buy local? Not trying to be a pain in the ass, just trying to understand. Thanks

I still haven't received the "real deal" bonus you promised. But I guess shipping a live husky can take time, huh? I'll be patient. I've got a couple chihuahuas to hold me over. Mmm.

I compare the size of yours to a chihuahua's balls. The dogs are more masculine.

well what started out

as an AR build has turned into a sell-a-thon,shotgun build and AR build, holy crap,I've been putting Harley parts up for sale and and buying gun parts off gunbrokers.com for the AR and there were so many deals on 870 parts that i have been snapping up them too.Picked up a 2 shot mag extension for 17 bucks, a barrel shroud for 9 bucks,GG&G sling mount and specter 3 point sling for 30 bucks, never was a big fan of a sling on a shotgun but we'll see.I have yet to order a mesatactical 6 shot side saddle with picatinney rail( about 65 bucks if i remember right) but i'm waiting until somebody buys my H-D rims.So that's the shotty, the AR is shaping up to be mostly BCM,but i am seeing a lot of complete Bushmaster ARs for 800-840 bucks and one guy was saying to buy one of those and then upgrade from there,i know a couple of you guys have Bushmasters and i haven't heard anything bad about them, don't know yet. Those 1 in 7 barrels are damned expensive tho.

I love mine, never had any problems. That the one I'm sprucing up right now. I'll post pics when I'm done.
There is a shop right next to SGC in scottsdale, called US auto weapons. they had CMMG complete lower groups for $250. They have mil spec triggers, so you can upgrade there if needed, but its a cheap start. I may end up going the SBR route with a troy M7 upper when the time comes, not sure though. I'd almost rather have a 6.8 or 7.62 (.308) than another 5.56 though. I confuse myself when I start over thinking it. My issue is... after I add up all the cool shit I want to do to it, I could buy the LWRC rifle I've always wanted. I guess it wouldn't be the same though. I want too much shit. I think I'll go with another shotgun first.

AR lower receivers

for something cheap to get into a a decent rifle CMMG has good lowers for the price... They will be the same quality as DMPS, Bushmaster, RRA etc... $218 plus shipping, or if you live in PHX, you can pick it up. US auto weapons is a great store, and their stuff is a little cheaper if you order online and choose "store pick-up"
http://www.usautoweapons.com/R17562/CMMG-LOWER-COMPLETE-W6-POS-MIL-SPEC

For a higher quality milled receiver from solid billet, Check out Sun Devil. I looked at one yesterday, and they are about as good as it gets. They don't have the same price tag as some milled receivers like Colt and extra heavy competition receivers. I looked at the Sun Devil next to the Colt, and the Sun Devil actually felt quite a bit better. They are located a couple miles from my house in Mesa, AZ, and will ship anywhere. They don't get much better than these

My frankenstein might start out with a Sun Devil lower, JP enterprises parts kit, and a titan defense or Troy ind upper. JP makes really great products, but they're not cheap. Still thinking and saving, but I did just drop 6 bills on the 870 yesterday, so it may be a bit.

I got the 18" rifle stock version of the TAC Desert Recon. It came out to about $570 total. No one around here had one in stock so I ordered and paid for it a couple days ago, it should come in any day now.

I may add a heat guard, but besides that, and maybe some sights, this will stay pretty stock. The rifle is next.

I was tempted to pick up the CMMG complete lower group for under $250 because I have that right now and thats a good deal, but I figure I should wait till I can buy a milled receiver and JP parts. I already have the bushmaster to F around with in the meantime.

LBC I've got my eye on a Yankee Hill Machine upper assembly. I want to buy it as an assembly.
