AR piston style uppers

I really want to jump into the piston kool-aid. I keep hearing everything compared to the HK416. Is there a difference? We have many manufacturers selling the piston style AR now. Would it be advisable to wait for the civilian version of the HK416? I played with a POF made entirely in the USA; I think in Reapers neck of the woods, it was nice. What say you the members of gunslot.

please include your rationale for your arguments.

thank you

p.s. I did a search, but I am lazy, if there was already this topic, just call me an ass and send me the link

pistons

I've been looking into them also. They run cleaner and cooler than D.I, which in theory would make the weapon more reliable and less malfunction prone. The 416 would be sweet. I've heard it will be availble to civilians sometime this year, but people have been saying that for quite some time.... and they won't be cheap. I looked into Titan defense, as I was told it is as close to a 416 as they come. Almost all the big boys (Stag, Bushmaster, Ruger etc...) that make AR's have started offering Piston systems as well. They look interesting. I'll probably grab one someday. I might try 6.8. I really like the REC 7 or LWRC M6 series.... but then I start looking at the R.E.P.R. I'm so confused. I want them all. Please help.

Here are a couple previous discussions on it where we touched on it. Probably won't help you much, but fuck you anyways... I'm not sorry for the lack of rationale either.

appreciate

the fact that I gave you a bunch of useless information that in no way will help you in your decision to buy or not to buy a piston upper.

POF

never used them or known anyone who has, but read a good review a while back. They had some uppers in a shop I was in a while back. I know a guy that works there. I'll ask around. I know they're local
