Hello everyone. I'am new to this site and i figured maybee i could some expert opinions. Although i have owned hunting rifles all my life i have never owned an assault rifle or handgun. Iam looking to buy 2 handguns, 1 auto and 1 revolver, iam leaning toward a 45ACP and a 357 mag s & w for handguns but i dont know about an assault rifle. Any advice?

damn, you picked an expensive time to buy an assault type rifle.AK's are going for around 800 bucks for a good one,AR15's are a 1000 bucks and up and SKS's are at 350 bucks right now.these are base line prices and good luck finding anything available!i personally recommend either a SKS or an AK47 due to the fact they will always go bang and they are cheaper than an AR.

If you find an assault rifle, be careful it might assault you. Just kidding I hate the term assault rifle, there military or military style rifles. I have never seen any rifle assault anyone, the person behind it might, but not the rifle. And yes you picked the worst time to buy those type rifles.

I agree with te above you can't go wrong with an sks or an ak,
I have owned an sks for about 20 years now and it has been shot alot no malfunctions, pull the trigger it goes bang simple.
I would however recomend getting a good stock because the military stock most people find it too short. After market folders work great!!

The term assault rifle is a very valid one. Hitler is most often credited with coining the term after seeing the STG 44 in WW2. They are military style rifles, but as far as funcion or operation, so are the semi remingtons and browning hunting rifles, as well as all bolt action hunting rifles. When you use one of those rifles for its intended purpose, you are assaulting an objective, whether the objective is an enemy bunker complex or the hallway of your house in an attempt to kill, capture, or force the retreat of an intruder. We as gun people have got to stop cringing evey time we hear that term. Embrace it, explain it to people who don't know. We must not be on the defensive here. Yes, it's an assault rifle, or weapon, or whatever, yes I have one to use in the event I must defend my nation against any and all enemies, foreign and domestic. Yes, I can use my M4 to hunt, but that is not the primary reason I purchased it. What is the primary reason? Watch the movie "Red Dawn". Whether the villains from that movie are from another country or from capitol hill, my rifle and I are ready to defend the freedom our forefathers risked so much to secure. Perhaps I am a bit militant, and as I have said before, I DO NOT ADVOCATE THE VIOLENT OVERTHROW OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, but the second amendment was included for a reason, and that reason was not for IPSC or shooting cans. Well, not soda cans, right ebear?

My 1.8 GPA is kicking in, the two brain cells I have left have stopped trying to kill each other and are working together, I have a headache, I am sweating profusely, and I'm still not able to figure out what you mean.

Oh, yeah. Now I get it

You are correct, coldfront. I stand corrected, cold, rejected, and well, a fucktard.

I agree with what your saying it's the news media definition that bothers me. I know what the terminology is, but the media seems to say any semi auto in military configuration is an evil black weapon of mass destruction. That tics me off a bit........or maybe I should lay down.

check out

check out www.atlanticfirearms.com they advertise a saiga ak 47 7.62x39 for under $400. these rifles require special mags, but its the most affordable Ive found so far, also check out www.jgsales.com i heard they have cheap ak's, but i havent looked yet. the saiga can be had with a pistolgrip/colapsable stock from tapco, check out www.cheaperthandirt.com for less than $100. you can find the mags in a lot of places.................just an option
