Go to a range that rents these. Shoot them, then decide, both are good.

XD and Glock

Both are good. Go with what feels best

I have three Glocks and my wife has an XD subcompact. The XD feels much more comfortable to shoot and doesn't give the skidmark on the firing hand like the Glock can, but the Glock is more concealable in a given frame size. If you plan to use it for strictly home defense, forget the handgun and get a long gun.
