Since the subject came up...I offer this: If you owned a company, and the CEO was leaving, do you really think you would put a guy in charge that had a total of 23 months of experience (and not even at that level), and other than that, little other real experience? I really hated that comment Obama made about PA, since I am originally from that state. That's the kind of elitist attitude that ruins our country. The people in government who become (mainly lawyers first) always think they are smarter than the masses and should be the ones to keep us straight and help think for us...!

You guys stick to your guns. Its blokes like greasypaws and you Pkato that will be the voice in the wilderness. Dont let the bastards do like they did here in Australia. It wasn't that long ago that you could buy a rifle or shotgun any calibre or any action type by just walking into a shop with your dollars, no waiting period or nothing. Now you have to be a club member and have a licence (both of which have to be renewed every year) just another government way of taxing people. Don't let them get away with it. I could not believe that The Australian Shooters Party only polled 4% of the votes in the country. I always thought Australians had more balls and guts than that. The amount of people you hear complaining you would have thought we would have got at least 50%.

Ambivalence

Great points about the candidate,
I want to take a look a little farther into the rabbit hole. Americans have become soft and scared. Greasy made some real good points in another post (IS THIS WHAT REAL AMERICANS WANT?). For some reason Americans have forgotten how to think for themselves. There was a glimmer of hope after the attack on the 11 September. That faded after about 3 months. I think about these things and how I can change the ambivalent attitude of my peers. Most of the time people are offended when you challenge them. Challenge comes from a warrior mentality. We as a collective here on Guns Lot have this desire to live and prosper. Our plight is not for the existence of the second amendment, but rather the U.S. Constitution. It is a complete body of work. We do not intrepret the Constitition to fit our mood, we live by the writ. Warriors understand rules and heirarchy. Our rules come from the U.S. Constitution, not from pundits or politicians or ministers. We accept the rules of the land and follow them; however, do not think that the Constitution curtails free thinking, rather it is the source of encouragement. Discussion is what builds a wall of defense for the Constitution. We will differ in ways and opinions, but at the core there is the Constitution.

Liberal policies abhore rule sets. The 1960's are an example. Once the rule set becomes trivial, we no longer have direction. The liberal activists prefer this scenario because they can then influence the minds of the ambivalent. Humans have a basic desire for community. The propogation of towns is evidence for this statement. Lawlessness leads to chaos which leads to the need for rulers. It only takes a little time to peruse history to make this point. Rome after Greece, Germany after the 3rd Reich, the Soviet Union after the World War 2, etc. At the end of the chaos, the ruling party is usually oligarchary. This fits liberal agenda. The biggest hurdle for the "messiah" that is obama happens to be the U.S. Constitution. The biggest threat to the liberal plan of oligarchy is the free thinking individuals that subscribe to the idea of the U.S. Constitution as a complete document. The part of the U.S. Constitution that protects this free thinking individul is not the freedom of speech but rather the right to keep and bear arms. For with out this right, we can not enforce the rest of the U.S. Constitution.

I should end here, but I see the media as most of the problem. They subscribe to the idea that they will be part of the ruling party if the liberals plan succeeds. I am not writing about the news casters as that is well documented by Conservative talk show hosts and anyone with a brain. Take a look at the lineups from any day for any station. Men are still being emasculated in the sitcoms, firearms the cause of quagmires, and the criminals are humanized. On the surface these have little to do with freedoms gauranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Add them up day after day, week after week and see how attention is taken away and direction is skewed. When these conflagrate you should be able to understand the coorelation with the chaos seeking liberal leaders.

the answer

is not mccain unfortunately we have little choice if we feel we must vote i always vote not just to exercise my right but in hope that it will make a difference and no vote no right to complain if you dont want to be a part of the solution then keep quit and let americans that care do our best by exercising our constitutional right i feel that the only cure to the broken political juggernaut we call our government is to go into the white house the senate and congress and the judicial branch and fire EVERYONE!!!then hold legitamate elections not this puppet show we have now and elect a government by the people and for the people after doing this move on to state level and county and city level government and do the same thing americans did this before just go back in time to the founding of OUR country (not THEIRS!) and do a little reading

2 party

Greasy,
I see how your example could solve the problem in the short term. I believe the reason we have ambivalence in our country is due to the 2 party system. It is convienent and aids to the mythology of the democrats and republicans. The 2 party system plays into the dichotomy of good versus evil. The 2 ruling parties work together to establish this psyche into the citizens. Everyone wants to be correct, it is usually thought of as the correct side is the good guys. Both parties establish themselves as the correct side for their constituents.

A way that I see to shatter the good versus evil psyche is to add another party. Politics is never about black and white, the party system propagates this out of necessity. With the 3rd party, black and white becomes red, white, and blue.

2 Party

Amen clintlebo,

Very eloquent words. How about no party! How about strict 2 term limits and no more pensions. No Lobbyists! We need common sense back in this country. Most pols are attorneys so that is strike one.
Definition of a divorce: that is when 2 attys get together and split up your community property for themselves.

no party

SamD,
A no party system is an interesting theory; however, I can only see the problems we have magnified by a complete democracy. The Representative Republic that we eroneuosly call a Democracy serves the country quite well and has stood the test of time longer than any other government. In a Democracy everyone gets one vote. That means popularity wins, where is the most populated places for liberals: big cities. Where is the densest population of conservatives: rural areas. With out representation, the liberal agenda would trump the conservatives based solely on population. I believe this to lead to oligarchy and destruction of the constitution and by default the United States of America.
The electoral college hampers this popular vote. Each state has a set number of electoral votes. To win these votes, you need to win districts. Districts are won through a popular vote. The way that incumbants have mutated the electoral college is through gerrymandering. This is the act of re-districting the state to insure the voters are proportioned to re-elect the incumbant. This is where the Representative Republic fails the citizens.
There is an old saying: power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. All politicians want the same thing: they want to be re-elected. Your two term mandate is very wise, but it leads to lame duck politicians in the last 4 years. I do not have an answer. It would be great to hear the comunnities ideas on accountability for second term politicians. It is true that most politicians are attorneys, the constitution is a document of law. Attorneys study law. I do not have a problem with attorneys studying law, the lawyers that besmirch the attorney name are what I have a problem with. I do not want to put words into your mouth, but I think you and I agree with that statement. Too many people think they can live with out their neighbor. These lawyers specialize in turning people against each other. We have no time for these troglodytes.
Lobbyist: Whole heartedly agree, curtail their actions. That would include the NRA as well. You can't have one without the other.

I enjoy this debate. I hope there is more.

2 more things: the youtube was great, the comments were interesting as well. I like your avatar samD, girls with guns...there is a God!!
