I just read a MISHAP report about a military member who was off duty on leave at his parents house. when he reached into a drawer something (other crap in the drawer) caused his fathers pistol to fire passing the round through the front of the drawer, through his stomach and lodged in the wall behind him.
If you keep a pistol in a night stand or some other place at least have it in a good holster or case that will keep other crap from messing with it.
The best thing to do is get one of those small personal safes.
