i have equiped my family with a sufficient arsenal which includes ammo and plenty of canned/dried food goods and 2 freezers worth of meat.for this i have been deemed a "survivalist".is anyone else prepared like this? There is a time to fight, and that time has now come." --Peter Muhlenberg, from a Lutheran sermon read at Woodstock, Virginia, 1776

I have as well been preping for a long time now. We have chickens, rabbits, and I am going to start raising hogs in the spring. We have food put away for all the animals for what I figure a years time.
I have put away food stuff enough to last at least 8 months to a year for my household and my Mom and two nephews that live on the same mountian as me. I can probably stretch this out because have also bought seeds for raising a garden. I am growing a garden large enough to provide us with vegetables through the winter and to the end of the growing season next year.
I have a creek that runs year round so I am going to us a gravity fed pipe to water it so in case the power is down I will not have to depend on having gas for the generator.
I have a ton of other things I have done that I won't go into, but if anybody has questions on preping drop me a message I can get some usefull info.

God willing I'm planning on getting better prepared after the ice storm we had and for anything else.

you can get a 1200w generator for 89 and a 3500w for 140 on ebay.

I was told by a buddy of mine that the government will not be selling MRE's to the public anymore. Has anyone else heard this, I was able to buy 4 cases, but they are soo good I eat them like candy!!!

haven't heard that, but you would still be able to buy non-GI MRE's.
I'm good on security, but I do need to stock up on more chow/water. I already have a few pounds of rice, noodles and beans... but could always use more.

I got one @ 7500 KVA that will power everything in the house except the stove, heat, and dishwasher. I run it every month for half an hour to make sure it is working and I remember how to hook it up. It burns half a gallon an hour, which is twice as good as most gas powered units. I also have a 220 gallon tank in the garage. the generator will burn bio-diesel as well, 100% soybean oil, so you're not dependent on dino oil. I get that delivered directly to the tank. My truck is a Duramax diesel that burns the same stuff. Best case scenario is that I can go 500 hours worth of generation before complete empty. Of course, I may not be on FULL when x happens. Used carefully to keep the reefers cold, etc., that's about three months. I figure most people will be competing for gasoline, but not so much for diesel. With the truck I can get anywhere else with siphons, if necessary. I also have a HAM Radio setup for communications. I have a year's worth of canned dried food stashed away in nitrogen filled cans, plus quite a few MREs. The hot tub holds 450 gallons of fresh, treated (bromide) water. My Stihl chain saw works and I have enough wood for oh, I dunno, awhile. There are plenty of trees around here, after all. My firearms are locked away and hidden, for the most part. I try to stay 1000 rounds ahead for each piece. When I get to 1000 I buy another 1000, so I'm usually at about 1500 on average. If I didn't indulge myself at the range, that would go a long while. I'm prepared to hunt both small and large game. There are lots of deer around here.
I do NOT consider myself a 'survivalist' in the sense most people mean.

MREs are not allowed for commercial resale, they haven't been for quite some time. Soldiers who get them can have them, but military surplus stores who buy them from the soldiers aren't supposed to resell them. As for preparation, I have guns and my neighbors don't. Hah hah, they're stocking up for me.

i bought a 24 month supply of military mre packs online and they actually taste good. me and the wife cook a lot but we still buy a lot of canned goods, and none of that bottled hippie crap.
