Best 9mm Hollow Point

I just got a 9mm and was thinking about the Corbon DPX or the Federal Hydra-Shok.....never had a 9 before,so I'am not sure what expands the best?

Forget Hydra-shok

It's overrated. Corbon makes very good ammo, DPX is designed to penetrate deeply. Try the 125 gr +P JHP, or I really like the Speer Gold Dot HP 124 gr +P JHP for mine. I think the most important aspect of any defensive load you use is which one is most accurate in your gun. Nearly any defensive load has effective terminal ballistics, so make accuracy your priority. I say buy a box of several different types and see which one your gun likes best. Also, if you are shooting a short barrel gun, compact or subcompact, limit your testing to high velocity rounds, primarily +P. That will ensure you have the velocity needed for reliable expansion.

Its pretty close. Look at the cost. Corbon is expensive but Hydra shok is really

I love the DPX +P 9mm... but if you're worried about over penetration.... look into the win ranger SXT or federal HST. I prefer talons vs. mushrooms.

Never been a fan of gold dot or speer. just me.

Best hollowpoint

I like Rem. Golden Saber, Speer Gold Dot or anything Double Tap or Buffalo Bore uses. Info I received from an LE friend (a year ago)was that the Hydra-Shoks had some problems. You might want to check that out. Of course There are a number of LE guys running around w/Hydra-Shok.

are not reliable sources of info for, well, anything. Gun guys/gals who wear badges are okay, but I have found that cops are like soldiers. There are some who really care about being proficient with every aspect of their job, but most seem to view it as just a paycheck. And remember that most police agencies make purchases based on what the bean counters say is most fiscally viable, not necessarily on what is most effective. There are, of course, exceptions to this, but they are relatively few.
