I need to know which buckshot would be best for home defense. I will be shooting them out of a 12ga that can handle 2 3/4 to 3 1/2in shells

If guns are outlawed I'LL BE AN OUTLAW!!!!!!!!! If guns kill people then beds cause pregnancy.

Number 3 buck

The first round in my shotgun is a slug then #3 buck. More pellets and I can always eject the slug if i don't need it.

I use Hornady TAP

It's a 2 3/4" - 00 Buck. It held the tightest pattern out of the rounds i tested. My first round is a Power Punch Bean Bag by ALS Munitions.

I also

have some 3 1/2" 00 buck magnum rounds sittng by my shotty (I usually keep these loaded when in the mountains/woods and camping) I also have some 3" 000. I don't rely any of these for home defense... but they are easily accessable if I needed them. I don't have any kids in the house either.

best buckshot

i prefer a 2 3/4 inch 9-12 pellet 00 buckshot, the most impressive for me is the winchester 9 pellet military grade.

I'm just another damn yankee with a loaded gun looking for some fun!

Forget Buckshot

Unless you live in Buckingham Palace, #6 or #7 1/2 shot will be more than adequate to kill or disable an intruder at ranges encountered in a residential structure, and overpenetration is not near an issue. This of course also depends on whether you have family members in other rooms. If overpenetration is not a concern for you, then go with the Federal reduced recoil 00 Buckshot in a pump, standard 2 3/4" Federal 00 buck in an auto. Inside a house, there isn't much difference in performance between 2 3/4" and 3 1/2". Personally, when I had a shotgun for home defense and nobody else to worry about, I had my gun candy cane loaded with buck-slug-buck and so on.
