Thinking about a few:
Gene Hackman as the sheriff in"the unforgiven"
Or
Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in"Tombstone"

Anybody else?...

all good

Some great scenes and lines in those movies.I obviously can think of a million Clint Eastwood lines but sometimes there ate some lesser known great characters.
out thete
Robert Duvall in Open Range for instance.

Did one of you fine mod's (mean that, not sarcastic) delete something.. i see "bust'n" is not showing.. anyway you can't post to that thread.. get the page not found thing..

on western characters.. this is knocking me out.. So far i deleted a couple pages cause i was just listing movies.. man we did those well.. I will say that Ward Bond never made a bad movie, and he had some of the best lines of any actor.. i remember after one battle..bodies are laying around everywhere.. Ward says "ok.. burry em... will read over in the morning"..

Cowboy movies!

Love 'em! Now for my favorite characters:

Kilmer as Doc Holliday
Kurt Russell, Sam Elliot, and Bill Paxton as Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan Earp respectively
Clint Eastwood as Josey Wales
John Wayne as Big Jake
Tom Selleck as Monte Walsh

There are others, but I didn't want to name any actor mroe than once.

My favorites

Val Kilmer as Doc is a good one but I've got to go with Colin Farrell as Jesse James in "American Outlaws" 2001. I know American Outlaws isn't a Classic Western movie but it is one of my favorites.

Was my favorite show! I miss that show terribly, nothing else on since has been as good.

I see another Monte Walsh fan is amongst us! I wish TNT was still doing Westerns like they used to.

after i had read this thread.. I was trying to remember all the dialogue.. ah.. yeah well..slept since then...

Couple things tho.. old Mose and the rocking chair.. Wayne, and "that'll be the day".. bout fourteen different lines that Bond said.. What a movie.. maybe a bit of over acting, but not by Wayne or Bond, and the scenes of monument valley are perfect..

Spent the night camping at the mittens camp ground back in the late 80's.. Moon came up right after dark, and what a view.. The camp ground is like a drive in movie theater, except primitive.. Least was then.. I had spent the day hiking around the mittens, and sat on the tailgate of my truck and watched the moon come up over the mittens till i couldn't stay awake any longer.. good stuff..

That sounds awesome. Also, I loved The Searchers, one of The Duke's best.
