my favorite is my Remington .870 Express Supermag. I hunt alot with it. I haven't got a defensive shotgun yet, but soon, very soon. I've been looking at Saigas, but they're Russian made and the cold war still lives in my mind so I can't hardly bring myself to buy one. I need to go watch Red Dawn now.

Browning BPS Is the best pump shotgun followed closely behind by the 870. I have shot 870's since i was a kid and they are really good shotty's.

Not to start a pissing match but mossy's are NOT the BEST shotguns. They have there place in the world as a bargain price beater that gets the job done but they are not the BEST. Semi's depend on the purpose you want them for. There are many good semi's. Browning gold and silver, remmy 11-87, any berreta, winchester super x series, benelli. Take your pick.

i have never had a browning. i prefer mossbergs over remingtons (i've had some issues with remington in general) but the next shotgun i am getting is the benelli ultra-lite. i am smitten and nobody is talkin me out of it!

I hear you. It's nice to be smitten occasionally.

I want to back up a bit though. When I say Remmy 870 I'm not talking the Express models. I'm talking about the Wingmasters. They are great shotguns.

this is probably a ford vs. chevy type thing. the last 2 NEW remingtons i bought had problems. one of those was the nice wingmaster. someone told me remingtons production facilities have been moved around. i believe it, cause the remington 870 i had as a kid was fantastic. i bought it for 100 bucks! it was a wingmaster too but the blueing was all messed up. like so many others, i wish i still had it.

I used to have a Wingmaster and put 1000's of rounds thru it at the skeet/trap range. It NEVER failed or jammed on any ammo. I ended up selling it for some stupid reason. Now I have an 1100 that I bought used and will never give this one up. You cannot go wrong with a Wingmaster or Express.
p.s. This is also a Wingmaster I bought 25 years ago. Just like most other things, they are probably different now, I suggest finding an older one in good condition.
