Bipod for AR-10

Any advice for an AR-10 bipod that doesn't require removal of the factory forearm or (God forbid) using a barrel-mounted bipod?

Does such a thing exist? Am I relegated to replacing the factory forearm for an uncomfortable rail system?

How is it uncomfortable? Put rail covers on it and call it good. I love the rails. Gives you plenty of space to put more expensive shit that you probably don't need.

Lug?

I don't remember the maker, but a few years ago, saw a bipod that fastened to the bayonet lug.

I didn't say anything because that's basically attaching it to the barrel.

ehhhh...

I disagree.... I think his concern was either marring the finish or affecting the accustics. I doubt this would affect it.

LOl

yes it has... damn, almost 2:00...

I need to go jump in the shower or my wife is going to be pissed, still smell like smoke. I set the berm at the range on fire today. Shot a 1/2 inch pig metal plate with a 5.45x39 and it threw sparks all over...

LOL all of us had to run to the berm and beat it out with brooms...

thanks

Yes, I am concerned with adding something to the barrel because of harmonics (or acoustics). :-)

The gun currently shoots 3/4 MOA all day long. I am simply afraid to do anything major to change the setup. However, I can't count on carrying a sandbag around at all times...

I don't have a bayonet mount on this AR-10. From what I am gathering--I need suck it up and just replace the factory forearm and get a decent Harris bipod.

Correct?

And rail systems with covers work well and are comfortable. Or you can replace the gas block with one that has an anchoring point. Shouldn't affect performance if done correctly... but a pain in thr ass and more expensive.
