browning?

I was in a Carter's Country the other day and I saw a rifle with a brown finish instead of blue. Anybody here know if its done the same way rust blueing is or if there are any differences?

Browning procedure

There's a very good description of the browning process in the Brownell's catalog, & they sell the chemicals. It's not the same as rust blueing. I'm not knowledgeable enough about the process to give you any decent details - sorry. If you want to go to the trouble, you can always call them (800-741-0015) & someone from the Gun Department technical group will tell you about it in any amount of detail you want.
