i went to the browning site and it shows the year but the last three meen some kinda barrel i think. the nm mean year made the m43 is what i don,t find the answer for thanks
it is the type of steel the barrle is make from. in this case Match #43 which is a boron/high carbon steel of match grade quality. ryo have study metalurgy for a semester of the chemistry program that am in at the high school go to now as senior. is advance course that will also get 3 hours of college credit for when graduate in the spring. hope this helps.

Not sure....Maybe they made so many of them that the serial numbers turned to letters and numbers....again im not sure.

Because for each space with a letter, there are 26 possible variations, versus only 10 possible with numbers.
