Budget cuts
Ok how does everybody feel about LE budget cuts? for example in Las Vegas the governor has proposed a 15% cut in LVMPD pay, a 15% cut in NLVPD pay, a 10% cut in HPD pay and a 16% cut in NDOC pay. As well as a 2 year stop of 5% step increases and a 2 year stop in 4% cost of living adjustments. If you dont know Las vegas is top 10 in crime and tourism. But it is also the top 10 in LE pay scales. Yes I live in Las Vegas and yes im LE, but I want to know what people who dont live in LV think, is it worth it to cut the pay of the people who protect you , your family, and friends? |

I work for the federal government and think that the agency I work for is a bloated hog. The only thing that our federal tax dollars should go to is the inerstate highways, the Military, and certain waterways that are shared resources of multiple states. There may be a few things I've missed here, but from the top of my head thats what I got. All other things should be run by the individual self governing people of these United States of America. Not even foreign trade should be done from a central governing body, if a certain state chooses not to import certain goods because it will adversely affect their economic infrastructure then so be it. If anyone else has more and or better ideas, shoot.
As for Law Enforcement cuts, is more people on the streets worth more than better inforcement of those crimes commited? If we stuck to our guns and said that certain things are wrong and you will be punished, then that may have a more far reaching effect than just more hamstrung Officers. Those are my thoughts, that is all.

Not only should the Fed stay out of our lives they are the ones that got us into the world financial crisis we are now in. The push to lower the standard for home ownership has got us into this mess and now ODamma wants the feds to be the Banking institutions super cop. Folks we are in the deep shit now! I sure hope that in four years from now we still recognize America.
Just my 2 cents

Well I am a corrections officer and we are stretched very thin as it is, I think they pay more in OT than they do in base pay just because of the turn over, and call ins. Man I dont know, im a single father of 2 and cant afford a cut of 16% it would kill me and I have been there for 5 years and am a very reliable and productive officer. They are talking about a reduction of health benefits, a reduction or retirement contributions, a 16% pay cut, and 12 days a year of un paid furloughs. That seems pretty harsh to me, even if I wasnt in this line of work. Ya know I have worked hard and have earned what I make and theor trying to take it all away.

I feel your pain.
One solution would be to keep the miscreants, locked up 24/7. Each week give them each a loaf of bread and 1 lb of bologna and some PB &J. They can make their own friggin sandwiches, just like we do. They kan keep clean in their washbasins. If they plug up their toilets, so be it. If they start a fire in their cell, so sorry asshole. Give them some koolaid packs, a few veggies and fruits, have at it buddy. I didn't cause you to be locked up, You did it to yourself. No whining, how many crimes did you get away with before you were caught for one. So shut the fuck up and do your time. Act like an animal, live like an animal.
