NEW YORK(AP) — Former Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress (PLEK'-sih-koh BUR'-ihs) has been sentenced to two years in prison for possessing a weapon at a New York City nightclub.

The former New York Giants wide receiver was sentenced Tuesday in Manhattan's state Supreme Court. He will be supervised for two years after his release.

Burress pleaded guilty last month to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He expects to begin serving time immediately and says he hopes to return to football.

Burress was at the Latin Quarter nightclub last November when a gun tucked into his waistband slipped down his leg and fired, wounding his thigh.

Former teammate Antonio Pierce, who drove Burress to the hospital, was not indicted.

Dumbass

I understand carrying, even illegally for protection, as I did it for years in Kansas. Being a celebrity, he had every reason and right to carry for defense. But I'm sure he could afford a decent holster. Dipshit. No idea what kind of gun. Probably a Glock. Those things are fuckin' garbage.

I know somebody

real close to me that has carried many years in states as rigid as NY and never had a problem, choosing the 2nd ammendment as authorization enough to carry in that state,if the gun would of fell out and discharged would he to have been a dumbshit? Why?Thats where the saying "i'd rather be judged by 12,than carried by 6" ,came from.

Breaking the law does not automatically mean you are wrong. However, if you are going to break the law, then you need to do it carefully. My time carrying illegally taught me many things that legal carriers tend to not worry about. I learned to carry my wallet in my left back pocket so i don't show the gun when going to pay for something, I learned to sit down in a booth carefully, rather than plopping my ass down so the gun's butt doesn't make a thunk sound, I learned to adjust as much as possible prior to getting out of the car so I don't do the giveaway holster shift when I stand up, I learned to trust that my concealing garment was there rather than constantly touch and shifting and walking with my arm against my side. If you tuck a gun in your waistband for anything more than a quick trip to the corner store, you're a fucking idiot. There are plenty of holsters out there and there will be a suitable choice for your carry needs. How much has this idiot spent on legal defense, medical bills, and lost pay, when a 70 dollar IWB holster would have prevented it all. He's not a dumbshit for carrying, he's a dumbshit for getting caught. You can argue your second amendment rights or the rule of competing harms if you use your illegally concealed weapon to stop a murder, rape, or aggravated assault, and probably be fine. But it doesn't hold up if you shoot yourself and endanger other people. He's a dumbshit

The scenario

i was referring to was a paddle holstered S&W revolver my little brother was carrying. He went to take a dump and unbuckled his pants, the paddle holster fell out and discharged ,shooting the toilet to pieces, some of the porcelin embedded into his leg,yep he was a dumbshit but he didn't have any charges filed on him,he was in a bar in Texas pre-CC.

And I'm sure he'll join one of the Aryan gangs pretty quickly. I know I did. I have heard that since smoking is being banned in many prisons, tuna packs are becoming a form of currency. I'll never find out. I have my "Stay Out of Jail and Make it on National News" plan.
