I think most people

buy the best they can afford...bottom line! If it is American, bonus! But I do believe that most consumers purchase what they can afford and the best in that category.

I think I like guns! I don't care if they're foreign or not. However, my favorite Co. just so happens to be Smith&Wesson.

S&W and Springfield have great pistols. Just see what you can afford and you like. There is a pistol called a Firestar that is made in Spain that is a good little carry pistol in 9mm and 45 acp. The FN pistols are made in SC. so, if you want to buy a USA company here are a few.

Buying American

you have to be careful... companies are doing anything to cut costs and increase their profits. Just because a company in U.S based... doesn't mean that they manufacture all of their weapons or parts here. There is still a lot of out sourcing going on with american companies.

One example:
Springfield Armory (great guns)... American, right?

Well, my M1A was manufactured in the U.S. fortunately. I have a Springfield 1911 that was manufactured in Brazil. And as for XD's...Springfield Armory does not in anyway make the XD-Series of pistols. They are the sole importer. HS Produkt d.o.o. is a Croatian firearms manufacturing company that designed and makes the XD Series or as it was originally known, the HS 2000. HS Produkt d.o.o. wasn't doing very well with it's previous importer InterArms International. Springfield Armory stepped up and became the sole inporter and also was allowed to rename the pistol the XD for Extreme Duty for the US Market. Around the world the XD is still known as the HS 2000.

Many others exist such as Charles Daly outsourcung 1911 parts to the Philippines etc... just do a little research.

I personally like to buy american when I can, but some of my favorite guns are still manufactured oversees.

Buy American

I try to buy American at all times. But in this Global Economy sometimes you can't. I really shy from Chinese products. I feel we will be fighting them someday. I hate to give them anymore of our money. We already owe them Billions, they have bought our Debt.

CZ is a very fine arms maker, I like their products. I am looking for a .380 (German made) Mauser. If anyone knows of one reasonable, let me know... samD

I'm with you, on buying chinese products. Thats why I hate shopping at walmart (except for buying winchester ammo) because almost everything sold there is imported and the majority of it it chinese.

I don't like giving them money either... but also, everytime you hear of a recall its a chinese product. whether its lead based paint or toxic chemicals in their tooth paste or dog food or what ever... they don't give a shit about the consumer, they just try to produce their products as cheaply as possible.
