Buying Guns On Line

So what kind of legal stuff do I need to worry about when I see a gun advertised on this site? Is it legal to send a gun accross states? Do I need a permit first? How does it work?

nothing else to worry about, unless you are prohibited from legally owning a firearm.

Vaqs right. It's legal to send accross state lines as long as it's sent from a FFL dealer to your FFL dealer, at which point when you go to pick it up, a backgound check will take place and you will gill out some forms. Of course some states like Cali and few others have silly little gun laws and some guns you can't buy there peiod. So check whats legal to have in your state.

anytime you purchase a firearm from a web site the seller is required to send the weapon to an FFL dealer that you identify, if its a legit sale the seller should ask your dealer for a copy of his FFL before he ships it, once shipped you pick it up from you dealer after filling out a 4473.

For Sale

What about the ones in the for sale area? Are these the ones that go from dealer to dealer?

So if I offer to buy someone's gun, and they want my address, will they send it to me or a dealer?

No offense bud, but , I hope it goes through a dealer.
Unless I met you face to face and knew a mutual aquaintance, I would not sell you a firearm.
Just an example, but, you might be Osama Bin Laden. How would anyone know otherwise?
Just me, I might err on the side of caution.
That's what FFL dealers are for.
My 2 cents.

If it is shipped

It must be to a dealer, state line or not.
Face to face is the only legal transfer of ownership without a dealer.
I think.

shipping

to be incomplience with the fed regs all firearms must be shipped to an FFL, if you are in the same state most states allow private sales between individuals but it is your reponsibility to verify that they live in your state.
