I'm a chiefs fan..... but have lived in the valley of the sun for 10 years now. I've got to be going for the cards to pull this one off. They are my secondary. I can't believe they actually won the NFC!

Raiders Fans Reunite!

Its fun to think of the good old days back in the 1907-s when the Raiders dominated the NFL under John Madden.

My dad had season tickets and so I got to go every so often. He had season tickets for 17 years. Then they moved the team to L.A, and the team hasn't been the same ever since.

LOL, just rooting cause I live here now. Don't really care anymore, it is just a GAME! Most pro players are idiot savants. God given natural talent and a lot of hard work. Now I didn't say all were idiot savants, so no rock throwing. Just most!

It's really sad..

That athletes who so little to society are considered to be heroes to so many people.

The real heroes are those people who put their lives on the line to protect us everyday from people who want to see us dead!

samD,
if you're not first, your last. It doesn't matter where the cripple hawks finished, I have to say Go Cards, cause I hate the steelers, all 15 on each side of the ball!!!

i'm not bitter or anything...But damn, all you Steeler fans, chill out a bit. Like samD said, it is a game. My wife and I were receiving death threats from the steeler fans at the superbowl. And those were just the officials...

But gave it all to the kids. My next door neighbor was Warren Bankston (tight end) Would drink beer with Kenny & Debby Stabler in Danville, Ca almost everyday. Had dinner one night at the Italian Fratilanza Club in Oakland. At my table was Ben Davidson, Gus & Jim Otto. Food was served family style, with big platters of salad, pasta, roast beef, etc and Ben Davidson took a whole platter of everything for himself. Those were the glory days.

Our elementary school managed to put together an assembly with Jim Otto, Ben Davidson,Daryl Lamonica (sorry if the name is misspelled), and Fred Balitnecoff.

I remember Daryl Lamonica throwing me a pass and it nearly took of my right shoulder.

It was a wonderful program getting to meet these humble yet larger than life athletes.

The issue here is more complex than just a football team. Pittsburgh, as I'm sure everyone knows, was a major production center for US Steel--not only the company but the US Industry. I say 'was' because US Steel is no longer a force in the world. It is one of the industries that dried up and went overseas resulting in massive loss of good jobs for American steelworkers. Now you can claim this was union greed or company greed or public policy. It doesn't matter why. The Pittsburgh steel plants closed and are now a ghost town. Not only that, the workers had no jobs and had no choice but to leave Pittsburgh and move elsewhere, likely never to find as good a job as they had in the steel yards. They moved to every major city in the US, and like all of us who have moved away from home, they still crave to be there. But they cannot be there and support their families at the same time.

So one of the things they did was live in Pittsburgh vicariously. There is a Steelers bar in every city. They put on their Steelers garb, support the team, and wish they were home. The Pittsburgh diaspora has never forgotten where home is.

I'm not from Pittsburgh, but that is why I am a Steeler's fan.

I am from PA

but hate the Steelers and Eagles...especially the Eagle's Fans...none worse in the league! At the Steelers fans are good fans and loyal, Eagles fans blow! Now I will admit I am a Cowboys fan, but I am definitely rooting for the Cardinals, after all I lived in Tucson for 4 years.

Anything can happen. That's why I think taking two weeks between playoff games and the Super Bowl is total waste of time.

Mind games seem to dominate the first few quarters of the game as the athletes start to believe what teveryone has told them would happen as an outcome.

Fortunately, the good teams get ti together by the end of the game and they play their hearts out and show everyone how good they really are, in spit of what the polls say.

Yea but...

What are we going to with our lives once football season is over.

You won't see me watching baseball, or golf or tennis.

Those aren't even what I consider to be sports. There is no physical contact, and most of the time its boring as all hell to watch.

I agree, gates

Baseball is fun to watch from the stands, and a great game to play, but it sucks to watch it on TV. Hell, I don't even have TV at my house. I have all 10 seasons of Friends and The first three seasons of The Unit, but all we watch now is Sesame Street videos for my son. IT'S DRIVING ME FUCKING CRAZY!!!!

You can get a satellite dish for either dish network or direc tv and you gain access to the NFL network, a 24 hour a day/7 days w week football network.

During the off season you get nothing but re-runs but hell, its better than watch baseball!!!

But you still need satellite to get 24 hour a day access.

Network TV is shit and isn't worth "the free price tag" that you pay to receive it.

That's why if you want to be able to watch any show worth watching, you're going to have to get a satellite dish.

With sever hundred channels to watch to $39.95/month it sure beats baseball!

Used to go to the Juarez bullfights on Sundays. A bunch of us always rooted loudly for Los Toros, until one time some Mexicans without any sense of humor decided that we needed to leave [or possibly die]. Good thing I had a friend [spelled PGA--paid guardian angel] in the Policia. With a firm grip on his S&W .357 Combat model, he told the angry bunch to go do a nasty sex act on each other, and told us to be quiet, but yell "'OLE" at the correct times.

because I was able to play Golf just about all year around. It snowed only one time during the year that I was there, and it was not enough to stay on the ground even to have a good snowball fight.
