I finally got my carry conceal permit today and now I believe that I can feel safer (as if I don't trust my two hands anyways to defend me)when I go out to places and I don't have to think to myself, "what if I had a more effective way to defend myself and those with me at the time". I'm still debating on carrying my sw9ve with 16 9mm Luger 115gr. FMJs or my sw40gve with 14 40 S&W 180gr. FNEB (Flat Nose Enclosed Base). I'm sure the 40cal would have better stopping power over the 9mm not only cause of the caliber but because the 9mm is a solid rounded tip and the 40cal has a flat nose with lead core and copper jacket. make damn sure that it is loaded with a Defensive Weapons Load. The asshole prosecutors sometimes go after the guys with FMJ and such loads as a hunting shell and not for Self defense. Don't trust anything NOT LABLE Personal Defense Ammo.

my 40 cal ammo is Remington UMC rounds

sam is right when carring always have PD ammo.
Warner357
ok. i thought id ask and see. i could have one clip of personal defense rounds and the other one be for home protection or range ammo.
Warner357
i picked up some gold dot 40 cal personal protection ammo today so im on the "safe side" now
samD
Don't leave home without it!

i went ahead and bought 40 rounds even though it was kinda pricey, but id rather cover my back side and have extra then not enough.

has always seemed kind of strange to me. After all, self-defense ammo is designed to expand inside the target, causing far greater injuries than an FMJ bullet. I understand the 'wall will stop it' issue to save your neighbor's ass watching his TV, but the fact is, in this one narrow case, self-defense ammo is much preferrable because it will put a bigger hole in your target. You'd almost think the prosecutors are rooting for you to kill the guy.
Nah....impossible!

practice with what ever ammo you are going to carry fmj ,hp,sellf defense ammo all is different when leaving barrel . shooting what your packing is key to personal defense . practice ,practice and then practice some more ,100$ in ammo is cheap compared to me or my loved ones life

Always carry Personal Defense Ammo at home or for CC. FMJ is considered "hunting ammo" and an Offensive ammo. Be careful!

I carry daily, and my weapon of choice: A 1911 commander model with 230gr JHP. Self defense VS. assault is decided by situation, not type of bullet or gun.
