I don't think so. I think you can go from larger calibers to smaller, but I don't think you can go from smaller to larger. The fram is too small to tak the .45 mags

for sure, but I don't know about going from 9mm up to .45. It makes sense that you can go down because you have enough room, but it doesn't make quite as much sense going up, where you need more room.

Caliber Change

If your friend is only buying a barrel and a magazine, the conversion won't work. More parts would be needed. The slide would have to be changed, the recoil spring has to be changed, The magazine's length and angle to feed ramp would have to be exact as well. Changing from 9MM to .45 ACP or .45 GAP isn't as easily changed as .357 SIG to .40 S&W and vice versa. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it can't be done on the cheap. Anything is possible with enough $$$$, the right tools, and plenty of time.

Changing calibers

Most guns can be converted, but only down in caliber. Not only is the magazine different, but the slide width is usually different, too.

Caliber Change

Yea hillbilly those conversions are from 40 S&W down to 9MM, or from 10MM down to 40 S&W or 357 SIG. There's no conversion of 9MM up to .45 caliber with only a barrel and magazine change like ebear asked about. To make the conversion ebear asked about more parts would need to be changed out, meaning more $$$ would have to be spent.

glock conversion

no, you can only go down in size not up. the only conversion for a g19 that i'm aware of is a .22 kit (kit, because you need a whole need slide, barrel, and mag... not just a barrel and mag) which usually runs around $200-$250... and for that you can almost buy a new .22

...and scarecrow is right, someone out there could probably figure out a way to do it, but it would cost a lot and require almost all new parts
