what is the best method of cleaning mags for semi-auto pistols?
disassemble by taking floor plate off and removing spring. clean all of the shit off of the spring and interior of mag. apply a thin layer of some good lube/protectant (not KY) and reassemble
thanks Reap, how often? every time i shoot?
not me. I really only clean mags that I use a lot once or twice a year. If you start running into some jamming issues, and you know your ammo is good, you may want to clean your mag/check the spring. I have mags that are over 10 yrs old that have only been cleaned a couple of times, that still function flawlessly.
i've put about 1000 round threw my 9 mm, and have'nt touched the mags.im gonna clean them now.i want to oil them anyways, still kinda stiff. I barely got about 350 rounds threw my .45.that i'll wait until mabey 500
just dont use too much oil inside of the mag body, if there is a lot of oil in there and the mag is loaded, over time, the oil can soak into your primers and foul them up.
i real light coat....Im gonna use Hopps #9
You are a traitor.

They are exactly on the same wave length. They can spew non sensical rhetoric at each other and smile. Then go save a tree or gopher someplace.
Who the hell can remember who is related to who. I was thinking of becoming bi-sexual, so I could double my odds at closing time...lol
like someone is jealous............
You might appreciate this. I went to the grocery store (It's huge) where they have a section for Japanese, Chinese, and Mexican food. There's a Japanese woman who works there and is always keen on helping you find what you need--the right kind of curry, peanut sauce, Gyoza, whatever. I'm always asking her where stuff is. This time I was in a hurry, rushed over to the area, and there she was (I think she's hot myself.) I reached up and grabbed the Taco Mix from the shelf, saw her there, and said,
We both started laughing. Did I say I think she's hot?
Schuyler, asian chics will do anything for a chocolate bar!!!!!long time!!!
is a better shot than I am, so I think I'll just cool my jets in that arena.
are you gonna stop going to that store??????
In fact, I just remembered I have a couple of chocolate bars I probably won't eat. Perhaps I should 'make a donation'
she's right behind you is'nt she??...lololol
Use a silicon cloth for the springs, but don't use oil. It will attract dirt and nastiness. Stay away from fluids in the magazine. Remember, the only reason you lube your gun is because of the metal to metal contact under heat. The magazine doesn't have this issue, so rust prevention is all you need to worry about. A silicon cloth is all you need.
