Well, I'm not an expert on it, but I can tell you what they are going for on gunbroker, because I've been watching them for about 6 months now. They are averaging in the 1000 to 1600 dollar range depending on the shape they are in. You've got yourself a collector's item since Colt doesn't make them anymore and hasn't said if they are going to start making them again in the future. As for if it's nikel or not, I don't know, depends on the year it was made. I think they made special runs in nikel for a while, but don't quote me on that. Somebody on here with way more knowledge on the subject than me will come along and asnwer your question better.

I am a Python owner, too. Go to this site http://www.coltsmfg.com/archive.aspx and follow their instructions. In a couple of weeks you'll get an authenticity letter and report on the gun.
Pretty cool.
