I honestly say NO they shouldn't. Not saying they don't have the right to be safe but...what is the percentage of incidences verse colleges? Now think back to your college days...how often where you drunk, rolling, swirling, high, doped, fucked or just plain out of your fucking mind? These people should have guns in school? no. Hire security guards? Maybe. Roaming guards? Probably not. Better security when going into the school...FUCK YEAH but I would not feel safe if half the college kids in my area had guns. Those mind fuck kids? Get out of here

Don't count on getting or keeping a Concealed Handgun License after
arrest/conviction for alcohol or drugs. License is pulled. Only students (or anyone else) over 21 can get license, unless military.

when crime happens it happens in a matter of seconds...police are minutes away...with a ccw comes responsibility...just as with gun ownership...you not allowed to drink under the age of 21 but it still happens...but what you arent SUPPOSED to do by law is not drink and carry a firearm...I'm sure that still happens. Gun free zones like schools, churches, campuses and the like are nothing but danger zones because people arent allowed to protect themselves...you should NEVER i mean NEVER be handling a weapon under the influence of drugs or alcohol! If you arent responsible you shouldnt handle a gun...if someone is not responsible and is what you mentioned above and handling a weapon call the cops! but I do believe that if you are properly trained there shouldnt be any problems...
TexasChaos
Hmmm, I didn't think about that... but I went to a straight-arrow school and hung out with the straight-arrow kids! I would have trusted any one of them with a gun. Meanwhile, my alcoholic grandfather had a closet-full of pieces...

Saw a video the other day of a kid at a certain college(dont remember which one)going through his morning routine. It including loading the mag of his .45, and putting it in the gun.
During that video they stopped random kids on campus and asked if they were concealed. Most said yeah and said they approved guns on campus. The students said that if the kids at columbine were carrying guns, the blood shed wouldnt have been as bad as it was, because somebody would have taken care of the problem immediately.
But I say no for the same reason as Sytasyn_syn.

F that. I carry concealed a lot. one thing that bugs me is that I can't carry on indian land, any establishment that serves alcohol (almost every restaurant) school zones etc... Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna go up to the local elementary school and start waiving a piece around, but if I was still in college, i'd have a sig in my book bag and glock in my truck. I am responsible, so no one would ever know I was packin, but why is attending a night class on a college campus any different than goin to the seven eleven. shit can happen anywhere. be prepared, or pay the consequence. I'll protect mine, you should protect yours. I know univ. of utah lets you carry, cause all the weenies started a hissy fit over it. I think that if your particular state trusts you enough to carry concealed, you should be able to carry anywhere.

good to hear from you

I second that Reaper. I carry almost everywhere.

I say if you can legally carry, then, it only makes sense that you should be able to carry anywhere. If they stop you at the Gap, then isn't the Gap infringing on your 2nd Ammendment Rights? Well I guess I'll just call my local ACLU office and ask them to look into this. Oh, I forgot, they only defend things that will advance their Commie agenda. My bad.

I have a CCW license and carry most everywhere. All ccw states have no carry zones and i am fine with it. Schools, courthouse, church, for the average joe there is absolutely no reason to think you need to carry there. Now if i am a student and attend regularly, i think you should be able to carry. No state or county office will issue a ccw to you if you have had any priors, or even if the city or county dept. head just doesn't like you. Not to mention that as far as i know, ALL ccw states require that you are 23 years of age. Guess what i am trying to say is that you would be hard pressed to get me to believe that students like to two retards at Columbine would ever be able to obtain a ccw. Thats just the kind of propaganda that Barak Obama wants all of us to believe.....

Not sure really how I feel about this...I see arguments for both sides, this one would take a lot of debate. One part of me says, why not...if allowed to ccw, why couldn't you carry on campus. However, remembering how I was at that age and many of the friends I had...it would be tough. This subject does and will continue to stir up a great debate...but definitely interesting. What if it were the teachers who were carrying the weapons???

OK, I read the letter by Senator Wentworth and it looks like there will be some stipulations in the proposed law...which is good in my book. I like the fact that there will be training and oversight (as long as that happens, sounds like it could work). It is one of those things though...both sides can claim it's good/bad, but until you have evidence it's just a bunch of talk. Here's hoping that if it does pass, there won't be a need for anybody to use their weapon on campus.
Did they ever allow the pilots on airliners to carry weapons?

i would be all for a trained teacher to carry. by "trained" i mean a teacher that is capable of, and willing to use force under the appropriate situation. the same can be said and should be standard for any ccw holder but with a teacher they need to be better trained as a leader in this type of situation because the students are looking to them for guidance anyway. i am with Pkato on this also. we shouldn't need to go to this extreme, but unfortunately this is what our world has come to.
Death from Above
You would not have to worry about untrained teachers carrying. Most dispise guns. The ones who would be carrying would be custodians, maintenace or ex military teachers. Their are some in teaching
TexasChaos
There is one school district here in Texas that allows the teachers to carry. It's new as of this school year, I believe, so hopefully it will spread to more districts around the state.
