Concrete Help Please

I'm no construction guy but need to put in two garage door approaches (probably 8'x8') to my shop plus a short sidewalk from my drive to the front door porch at the house. I really can't afford to have this done but have the equipment and time to do it myself. My question is if I need to lay a few inches of sand below the concrete after I excavate. I think sometimes pea gravel is used but I don't have any. I do have a lot of #53 driveway stone. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks guys,

It's too late for me, save yourself.

Most towns have a building code in place for sidewalks and for driveways. Most also expect you to get a permit, they will also tell you what the local code is. Thickness, reinforcement etc.

Each election is an advance auction on the sale of stolen goods
