I'm not sure I understood what you just said. Chrome lined bbls will last longer. They're good for machine guns and other rifles that you'll be putting lots of rounds through. If it's a precision rifle, you may not want chrome lined.

"gov" does indeed use chrome lined barrels in various service rifles/carbines/MGs. Since a good bit of AK/SKS imported ammo is mildly corrosive but not properly advertised/sold as such, I'd prefer a chrome-lined barrel on any SKS/AK rifle.

I think I'd take mine chrome free. The chrome seems to "distract" the ammo and allows it to go off course a bit. I need precision when I shoot..

Reaper pretty much has it, but since I'm a points whore, I'll echo his answer (and add the weight of my always correct observations to support him). Service rifles that are used for high-volume shooting and need to be able to subsist on a wide variety of ammo sources should be chrome lined. For that matter, chrome parts also help prevent corrosion, so chromed bolt carriers can also be a good thing. If you're shooting for precision, and your rifle gets a preimum diet of good ammo, then don't worry about having a chrome bore.

Ebear, this does not mean that your ghetto-assed chrome plated Jennings .25 ACP is a good combat weapon.

There are numerous views (of course) I have been told by a member of gunslot and by the research I have seen that chrome lined is only for really bad conditions and does nothing for the accuracy of your rifle.

It's really only for protection against corrosion and barrel life. I don't think many precision rifles out there have chrome lined bores.

Chrome Linings were used a long time ago to add life to cheaply made barrels...

They take away from your accuracy, and if you do not have full auto the purpose is nill....

Save your money and just buy a better barrel like the 70 Rockwell hardness ones that POF use...
