Seeks damages for distribution of humiliating gun accident video
APRIL 11--A Drug Enforcement Administration agent who stars in a popular online video that shows him shooting himself in the foot during a weapons demonstration for Florida children is suing over the tape's release, claiming that his career has been crippled and he's become a laughingstock due to the embarrassing clip's distribution. Lee Paige, 45, blames the video's release on DEA officials in an April 7 federal lawsuit filed against the U.S. government. A copy of the pro se complaint by Paige, a DEA agent since 1990, can be found below. According to the lawsuit, Paige was making a "drug education presentation" in April 2004 to a Florida youth group when his firearm (a Glock .40) accidentally discharged. The shooting occurred moments after Paige told the children that he was the only person in the room professional enough to carry the weapon. The accident was filmed by an audience member, and the tape, Paige claims, was turned over to the DEA. The drug agency subsequently "improperly, illegally, willfully and/or intentionally" allowed the tape to be disseminated. As a result, Paige--pictured above in a still from the video--has been the "target of jokes, derision, ridicule, and disparaging comments" directed at him in restaurants, grocery stores, and airports. Paige, who writes that he was "once regarded as one of the best undercover agents, if not the best, in the DEA," points to the clip's recent airing on popular television shows and via the Internet as the reason he can no longer work undercover. He also notes that he is no longer "permitted or able to give educational motivational speeches and presentations."

why he wasn't charged with child endangerment. When he continued on and asked for the M4, some of the children screamed in fear. If I were a parent, I'd sue his retarded ass for mental anguish and press charges for the child endangerment. And he's a well-trained law enforcement officer.

shortly after proclaiming his expertise. If he wants to work undercover all he would have to do is cut the poop out of his hair and no one would recognize him as the same guy. Let's hope this gets thrown out of court.

we will continue to have these frivolous suits. If I was him, I would get a haircut, change id, go into hiding because of embarassment from the shear stpidity of my sole act! As just a reminder the DEA is spending OUR money, they don't have any unless we give it to them...

If this were to go to trial, it would be very public, which will make him even more recognizable. I read the entire complaint as filed. It doesn't ask for anything specific. No dollar amount is mentioned. He's just going for a sympathetic jury in a civil action.

Any attorney worth the paper their degree is printed on could make this fucktard look like a negligent piece of shit that's lucky to be outside the walls of a prison. Speaking of lawyers, I'm trying to decide whether to get a law degree or become a psychiatrist. My wife says no to the shrink thing because she thinks I won't help people, as all my advice would be to go out and shoot things. After 20 years in the army, I think my service to my nation will be done and then IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS, BABY!! Whatever that means.

link?

anybody have a link to this video? The one I'm thinking of is on this site and was a big black cop that had an AD in a classroom, and from what I remember, he didn't shoot himself... but he did proclaim that he was the only one professional enough to handle the weapon.

than a shrink, which takes an MD degree even to start. So you have to pass organic chemistry. Good luck with that. But you don't have to really know anything to be a lawyer; you just have to talk well. My attorney charges about $250 per hour, so he makes a lot more than a shrink as well.

However, I know three guys who were attorneys. One quit and bought a back hoe and dump truck. One quit and became a fine woodworker. The third quit to become a public school teacher. Oh, and my neighbor retired from law work and refused to renew his license so he couldn't go back to it. All these guys seemed to hate the law and said it made them physically ill.

I wonder how much these types of lawyers make? I doubt I could ever do the criminal defense attorney thing, and even DA's office would get shitty. In every criminal case there is the Defense's side, the Prosecutor's side, and the truth. I don't know if I could defend or prosecute someone knowing my side of the story wasn't entirely true. Damn it, and I want to be President? Fat chance of a career in politics with such an aversion to lying.

I doubt I would last long when I actually file suit on behalf of gun owners or file suit against PETA for the inhumane killing by poison of hunting dogs. That's be a cool gig. But I don't think I'd look right in hemp flips flops and a pony tail.

I wonder...

Is it a requirement before being licensed to practice psychiatry to have a psychological evaluation done on yourself? I can't imagine people wanting crazy shrinks to be giving advice.

B.A., University of Washington, 1970, same place I went to. We went to the same high school, Wilson in Tacoma, WA, and we both had paper routes. There the resemblance ends.

Note: A psychologist is schooled in an Arts & Sciences program. A psychiatrist is first a Medical Doctor with an M.D. from a school of medicine, a residency, and additional training in psychiatry. Two different animals altogether.

EXCELLENT!!!

Then it is settled, I shall be a psychiatrist. My ex-wife already diagnosed me as a self-actualized, bipolar asshole with maladaptive tendencies. Well, I showed her. I got her mother and sister high on psychotropic drugs and convinced them to fight each other to the death and then when her mother won, I fucked her over the dead body of her sister and nutted on her brother's face. Hah hah. Who's laughing now? No, really. Who's laughing now? I can hear laughter, but I don't know who's doing it. Oh. It's me. Good, I was getting worried for a second.

Yes, Schuyler

I want to be a psychiatrist, not psychologist. Psychiatrists can precribe their patients funky meds and psychologists just talk. I want the meds.

It's called "The Ballad of I Have No Fucking Idea", starring ebear and my dad, the transvestite crossing guard. It's a PG-13 rated Rock Opera. Not suitable for children under 13 dog-years who don't speak Swahili.
