Their Kits were made up of LWRC parts....

Seems they have made some changes and are using Wilson Combat and LMT mostly. Even better....

i stand corrected after i posted that i went back and searched for info on the Del ton uppers and lowers and while they are not top shelf,they are good enough for a budget build AR,having said that if you look at BCM,LMT,LWRC,or Daniel Defense you might find that you are going to get a lot more gun for just a few dollars more.What do you want to do with the rifle? range? or self defense,carbine class? There have been some issues i have read about the Del ton regarding customer service,out-of-spec disconnectors,loose,ill fitting parts.Now check this out;

There is no substantial reason for getting CMMG, Del-Ton, RRA over BCM.

BCM Standard 16" Mid Length Upper w/ BCM BCG and Charging Handle (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-16-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/...) $570
Mid Length Handguard (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Mid-Length-Handguards-Black-p/handguards%...) $20
Aero Precision Stripped Lower w/ Shipping (https://surplusammo.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=329) $92
G&R Tactical Lower Parts Kit (http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=GRT-...) $82
Magpul MOE Mil-Spec Stock (http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XMAG400DKEAR&groupid=57) $57
DSA Complete Mil-Spec Buffer Tube Kit (http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XDSABK&groupid=57) $40
Magpul Rear MBUS (http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XMAG246DKEAR&groupid=48) $55

Complete Upper Cost: $590
Complete Lower Cost: $271
Total Cost w/ Rear Sight: $916

How to install a lower parts kit (http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/)

So it's up to you what you want to end up with,i think i'd pay just a bit more and go for the quality.

Thanks, Lucky

I'll pass the info on to my Father In-Law.........he is trying to decide if he wants to build or buy an AR. He was asking me if I knew anything about Del Ton at the range Saturday, so I thought I'd ask ya'll! Thanks for the help!

Kits or buy

I have been considering a kit or buying an AR and i have decided its almost cheaper to buy them these days. When you can buy a DMPS or an olympic for $700 its hard to get a kit for cheaper.

sure there are

cheap ARs out there now for 600.00,and they are going to be range rifles, plinkers, and weekend warrior weapons,so if that's what you have in mind you will probably be well off.BUT for 300.00 dollars more the Kit i have posted above is a Quality AR,capable of running and gunning with the best, carbine classes,3-gun competitions, and extended firing. There is quite a difference.

This is true... There are plenty of $600-$700 rifles out there that will be fine for the range. You can build a good combat quality BCM for a few hundred more

wait it out

The honest truth is that you can build a Del Ton AR but you must know what you are going to get. A sub-par to Mid-range quality AR. You best bet is to go for Rock River for the larger pieces. Then look for some decent innards a few dollars cheaper than the top shelf (for cost effectiveness). However I have to state that I do not condone my own advice. For what an AR is you want top shelf parts all around. This may cost more but the fun of "building" an AR is that it may take time but when you are done it will pick the dick off a gnat at 500m. Not to mention that it will be fully customized you you and your needs. I would be remiss if I did not at least try to talk you or your father-in-law into going the only route "prudent" to AR building.
