New Street Named For Iraq War Hero
Ryan Collins Drive, a recently completed new street in Patriot Place subdivision, is now ready for the construction of new homes. Phase II of Patriot Place will have some choice lots available for new homebuyers.
Responding to the demand for quality, affordable housing in North Wichita Falls, Rhone Building Corporation has completed the infrastructure of Ryan Collins Drive. Located off I-44, the 40-acre subdivision is near Sheppard Air Force Base and John Tower Elementary School.
With 159 lots, Patriot Place was dedicated 18 months ago in a special ceremony honoring families of local military veterans and fallen heroes. Ryan Collins, a member of the U.S. Army, lost his life [while] (editted for spelling) serving in Iraq. His parents, Danita and David Logsdon, are residents of Vernon.
David Rhone, vice president of Rhone Building Corporation and himself a member of the U.S. Army Reserve who served two tours in Iraq, recalled the event. “We were so proud to name the streets for service members who have served, and some who gave their lives for our country. They are true patriots! Coincidentally, many of our new home buyers in the subdivision are military or retired military-patriots. So the subdivision is appropriately named. It is especially gratifying to serve the needs of our military families.”
There will be 17 lots available on Ryan Collins Drive. Dave Rhone, long-time residential builder, stated, “We are so proud to say that we have 23 new homes on Air Force Drive and Cy Young Drive during slightly more than one and one-half years. This demonstrates our projection that there is a need for new homes ranging from 1000 2000 square feet in the area. We have only two lots left to build on in Phase I.
“We have some new three- and four-bedroom plans to offer our customers and encourage them to come in to select a lot and plan. There are several choice, wider lots and two corner lots available. Congress has extended the $8,000 tax credit for first-time home-buyers and some financial institutions have additional assistance programs available.”
Dorothy Rhone and daughter Mary Smith assist the customers in selections for their homes. “Mary has such a ‘good eye’ for color and is especially helpful with coordinating carpet, tile and paint colors,” commented Dorothy Rhone. “I love the interesting, challenging task of working with each customer to build a special home to fit their tastes and needs. We stay in touch with many of our customers who have moved across the world and enjoy longtime friendships.”
Although the majority of homeowners are military, the neighborhood is located conveniently to the industries in North Wichita Falls. Families have been pleased with the schools which, although in Wichita Falls, are part of Burkburnett ISD.
Rhone Building Corporation is starting a new four-bedroom home at 5032 Cy Young. A new house plan with an upstairs bonus room is scheduled for construction on Ryan Collins Drive.
In addition to Patriot Place, the Rhones also have lots available in their prestigious Canyon Trails subdivision. Homes range from 2500 square feet and upward in this area. Many floor plans are available for custom homes.
