i was about 9 years old and went to spend christmas vacation with an uncle that hunted and was into guns.my dad wasnt into guns so it was trial and error for me,anyhoo, for christmas my uncle gave me his old marlin model 20 bolt action 22 rifle and a subscription to Guns and Ammo.the rifle was missing the magazine but could still be shot single round at a time.my uncle figured since i could read, anything i needed to know about shooting i could learn from that magazine,i took the gun home and hid it from my parents for a couple years till dad noticed the squirrel population had dwindled to nothing.gee, wonder where they went?i was shooting the squirrels, drying out the tails and sending them to Mepps fishing lure company(maker of the Rooster Tail)they would give you a buck a tail at the time,or you could trade for fishing lures out of their catalog. At that time i was into trout fishing so i traded for lures.i finally wore out that old gun and put it in the corner of the garage i was livin in during my late teens.i never did figure out whatever happened to that gun.wish i had it now just to hang on the wall.

My father purchased a Ruger 10/22 for me when I was about 10. My brother who was 1 year younger than me also received one. We would take a brick of lead .22 ammo up on the ditch bank behind our house, make little rafts, put red colored army men on the rafts, place the "boats" in the canal and try to pick them off. It was a way for us to have a moving target. We did this up until some asshole from California bought the property behind us and denied access to anyone. I think my brother and I spent 2-3 hours 5-6 days a week on that ditch bank. Good times...

My mom was going to be a cop at one point and her father bought it for her as a little backup or off duty. Well she didn't become a cop and when I was 12 she showed it to me and said it would be mine, 6 years later she finally gave it to me.

mine was a marlin 70hc...I was supposed to get a pappoose but they sent the wrong gun lucky me it was a more expensive gun. I was 16 and paid for it by mowing lawns and doing some work for the school!
